After reading the mixed reviews on the Esplanade and its owner my wife and I was a little apprehensive when we booked for two nights. I have never put a review a hotel before but I feel the need to comment as follows. We arrived on the 30th Dec in the afternoon and met Steve the owner who was very... More

Location not too bad, rooms are poor, some carpets threadbare, draughty windows and noisy at night. On suite had a smell of drains which was quite strong when we arrived in the bedroom. Rooms are small and no bed head. Bed had very noisy under sheet which appeared to be plastic and mattress which needed replacing. Breakfast was reasonable but... More

This hotel we found to be a very nice stay, bedroom was very clean and warm. We liked the fact that the hotel did breakfast 8 till 9 and if you didn't make that you could go to another resteraunt up till 12 . We will definitely be staying again, it was very good value for money.

The hotel was nice, although décor slightly outdated, the breakfast was nothing to write home about would I go back no for ease of access to the town it was good. There is parking although you need to book it when you book the hotel for a fee of £5.00.

Spent two nights at the hotel during The Whitby Blues Festival, a place that has the basics right; clean room, comfy bed, hot shower and a fantastic vegetarian breakfast. A really good base to explore Whitby and the surrounding area. The owners and staff are very likeable and we're always obliging.

We were very disappointed with this hotel, the room was very sparse and tired, the bedding, curtains etc., were tatty and need replacing, there was only one chair in the room which had a tatty old throw on it, there was nowhere in the shower room to put our toiletries and no plug for the wash basin. The proprietor didn't... More

Situated up the hill near the center of town. Family room wasn't huge but very clean and appropriately priced. Ive stayed in 5* Hotels that were not as clean as this. Plenty of breakfast in the morning. Great for the odd night passing trough. I would book again

Ok stay, shower tray very dirty. Two single beds put together that kept coming apart. Just average. Have stayed in better B&B's in Whitby for a lot less cost. Wi Fi real slow, so slow you could not use it.

having read earlier reviews after booking were anxious about staying. yes it is b&b rather than a hotel but we had two rooms on top floor which have stunning views of the abbey over the town. breakfast was pleasant, ideally located for beach and town. staff were very helpful and friendly to us.
