We stayed at YHA Whitby for 2 nights from the 18th of August 2014, from our arrival we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff from the ladies on reception to the staff in the restaurant. The hostel is in a fantastic location on the East Cliff overlooking Whitby and next door to the Abbey, as we stayed at... More

Not my favourite Yha but nevertheless, amazing hostel. Location is perhaps one of the best in Whitby! Right next to the abbey, in a huge house looking out over the town. At the top of the 199 steps, perhaps not ideal for those with limited mobility (or else no access to car, although it looks like a tour bus does... More

Great location with lovely, clean facilities and really friendly staff. Becca was a star sorting out some bedding for us and all the reception team were knowledgable and happy to give recommendations. Highly recommend it any time of the year! We will be back!

Fantastic location on the cliffs next to Whitby Abbey - the views are amazing. One of the nicest Youth Hostels I have stayed at. The hostel is a wonderful old building that has been sympathetically restored and refurbished with lots of discreet information boards to explain the historic features. The sitting room and conservatory add a touch of class to... More

What an amazing location to stay! It is located in a historic house right next door to WhitbyAbbey. It was clean, the rooms were spacious and the staff were friendly and helpful. There is a beautiful herb garden to stroll through and because the hostel is located high on a hill, the garden (and possibly your room) overlooks the town... More

As long as you remember this is a hostel not a hotel you cannot fail to fall in love. Next to the abbey and just the steps to be right in town. The free abbey visit and the cafe in the hostel are the cream on the cake. I will return.

We loved the Whitby YHA! The staff was fantastic, the location was amazing and we got free admission to the Abbey ruins by staying there. I would highly recommend this facility for anyone, but especially those on a budget...you can't beat the price. The grounds are beautiful and makes for a really nice walk. Aside from driving, the only way... More

We stayed here as a group of us was sea fishing the next day. The rooms were very clean and cheap, the reception was good and the chap was very friendly, The location was brilliant, right next to the Abbey. The only way to the centre realy was down the 199 steps!! which wasnt a big deal. It also led... More

I stayed here for 1 night with 4 friends, as we had walked the Cleveland Way from Scarborough. Once we had finished our walk and arrived at the Hostel we were greeted by the staff member on reception, who was very friendly and very helpful. She explained everything really well and took the time to chat with us about how... More

This old Victorian house is amazing, set in beautiful grounds with stunning views over the town and port of Whitby. The hostel is well run and well kept, breakfast is great value and rooms are fairly spacious, though with bunk beds. Staying here is all about the setting and the value for money for the price paid in comparison with... More

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry about the creaking floorboards. The house is up to 900 years old but it has lots of original features with wattle and daub and 18thC wallpaper. Ear plugs are a good tip for light sleepers. More
