Stayed in room 7, nice enough and with a shower room too; however, a windy night resulted in a sleepless one for me, since the windowframes rattled all night. When I mentioned it to the staff, I was told they 'can't do anything about it' because it's a 'heritage property'. Funny, I'd have thought sticky sealant strips or felt would... More

The YHA in Whitby is part of the Abbey Complex. You can actually drive to the doorway of the YHA if you spot the signs, they are quite difficult to pick up. The building is being restored to its former glory, original style doors being refitted etc We were in a massive and beautiful room, a stroll down the 199... More

Booked a private room en suite for 4. Room had 3 bunk beds so plenty of room with two sinks and walk in shower. Found on last day if you don't fancy the 199 steps there is an alternative route via the hostel gardens which also has a few steps but not as challenging as the 199. This is also... More

Booked this hostel as only room in whitby bay available when we were looking. It wasn't any cheaper, if not more expensive, than other places we've stayed in. Instead of charging per family room I think they've charged us per bed which for a six bedroomed family room comes in at £159 which isn't that cheap given we had stayed... More

This hostel is one of the best hostels that I have stayed at, very impressed with the accommodation, facilities & affordable prices. This YHA Hostel is ideally located right next to Whitby Abbey at the top of 199 steps, overlooking the town of Whitby & the harbour. Even though this is a large hostel it is very welcoming and family... More

Like in the title, for price and location, YHA Whitby can't be beaten. Situated in the grounds of Whitby Abbey (ask for a free ticket) the hostel is a short walk down the 199 steps to the town center. It's staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is a bargain at £5.25. Our room was clean, spacious, comfy... More

These accommodations are located right next to Whitby Abbey, so it was easy for our group to check in, put our things in the rooms and have a look at the Abbey. The rooms have bunk beds and a bathroom - nothing fancy, but we didn't want fancy! There are laundry facilities on site and they let us have access... More

Stayed in room 11, from which I had a perfect view of the abbey lit at night. Gained a free ticket to the abbey just by staying at the hostel. Very friendly staff. Nice tearooms. Lovely conservatory and gardens. Slept well in ready made double bed in my en suite room. Onsite parking. Allgood.

We've stayed here 3 times as a family with 2 children (10 and 5 yrs) and it is perfect. The games room and outside play area are a real hit with children. The hostel is perfectly positioned for walking into Whitby itself as long as you can manage the 199 steps : ) As a guest at the hostel you... More
