What a lovely place to to in an excellent location with lovely friendly hosts who made my wife 15 month old daughter and myself very welcome and couldn't be more helpful. The house itself is a beautiful place to stay in a such a picturesque setting with excellent access to all local attractions and I couldn't recommend it highly enough

We spent 1 night at Red House Farm 3 years ago, near the end of the epic Coast to Coast walk. Sandra & Tom's hospitality - and breakfast! - and the beauty of the surrounding area made us swear we'd come back one day. This time around we stayed for 4 nights, and Sandra & Tom provided the same profoundly... More

We booked the Threshing Barn for a weeks holiday with our ten month old twins. Prior to booking, the owners couldn't be more helpful, measuring up to make sure travel cots etc would fit. When we arrived we were blown away by the magnificent views across the moors which can be seen from the cottage. The cottage is well equipped,... More

Tom and Sandra have a wonderful story to tell about this unique property of theirs, it really let's you live the experience of the area. Being Australians we don't get to see and live in properties this old very often and we really enjoyed it. Small problem is getting an evening meal is a good 15 minute walk down some... More

After enduring a hard 22 mile walk in gale force winds on a recent coast to coast trip we decided to miss out on trying to erect our tents in a hurricane and find somewhere to stay indoors for the night in Glaisdale. We could only find a double room and a single for the three of us at Red... More

No superficial use of metric equivalent from superstores here, decades of thoughtful restoration, combined with current day facilities make this somewhere we have put on our 'special places' list. Tom and Sandra capture the warmth of their home and share it, as if one is part of the family. The one drawback ..... The more who know, the less likely... More

5th stay at this superb accommodation. As has been said before, it is a wonderful set of buildings, the peace and tranquillity is unbeatable, and the quality of the bed and amenities (which actually perform superbly given what must be a real challenge to maintain genuinely “antique” systems in a rural location) is first class, as is the breakfast and... Stayed here 1 night before finishing the Coast to Coast walk with my sister. We had booked a twin room with en-suite, which turned out to be a double bed with an ajoining ancient bathroom and slow bath/shower, and a box room next door so you had to cross the hall way to use the facilities. The breakfast was fine... More

....and here's me thinking (as the house is listed and the stone above our main door was carved in 1748) that I had got it about right with making the 'pink room' bathroom maintain a 'period' feel....oh, well. Anyway, we've put some photos in the gallery above of the Ards' rooms, so you can decide for yourself. Very occasionally ,... More
