Called in this hotel for lunch yesterday as we went for a day out in Settle. Could'nt fault a thing....the food, service, and ambiance were all just perfect. My son had the fish and chips and chocolate brownie from the '2 courses for £9' menu, while I also had fish & chips but the smaller size and a taster size... More

Stayed for just one night, although we had booked two. The room we were in - 14 - the bottoms of the net curtains were black with dirt and there were splashes/stains up the wall by the hospitality tray. Restaurant area very nice but the bedrooms badly need updating. My sister stayed in room 15 and had to ask to be... More

The Lion in Settle was the centre of a wonderful folk music gathering last weekend. For three nights in a row there were up to 20 musicians in the Lion's Den, and a special bar was set up outside with a dozen cask ales. The atmospheric courtyard was a venue for 'rapper' sword-dancers, morris dancers and general jigging about. Although... More

We were put up here when we were in Settle for work, and so I can't comment on the actual price of the room as I don't know it. But I thought everything in the pub was finished to a very high standard, with a lovely roaring fire and very good ale and wine in the bar. The food in... More

We were in room 2 overlooking the court yard. The noisy extremely irritating kitchen fan is outside these rooms and is on from early morning till 10.30. Then when someone puts their shower on the pump whirring away adds to the noise. The worst however was Friday night when it seems all the youth from the district descend on the... More

A friend and I stopped at the Lion whilst doing the way of the roses cycle route, our bikes were kept secure during our stay, the twin room was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. The breakfast was very good with a lot of choice. I found the staff very pleasant and helpful. I liked it so much I... More

Had lunch of 'little fish n chips' and a ceaser salad both lovely the fish n chips was big for a little portion very fresh n big fat chunky home made chips. Salad was lovely too I had added chicken which was extra but worth it. Prices reasonable for food drinks a little over priced but the excellent service out... More

Settle is a pictoresque little town in the Yorkshire Dales and is a good place to stay in the region. The Lion fits right into that picture. It is on the main street of Settle (with traffic being a potentially minus if you have a room in the front - we didn't) and looks like the main pub in town,... More

We visited for our last drink of the night after visiting other pubs in Settle. I wouldn't say this was the best one, but it was certainly very nice. The only thing I would say is that the range of drinks on tap is limited to stuff that real ale drinkers like and the prices were really high. Probably would... More

Thank you for your comments. We have 7 different ales on tap, which I think is a great range, also not forgetting about the huge range of world beers we have in bottles which makes plenty of choice for guests to choose from. Again thank you for your comments; we do hope you will return. Hayley Mace and all the... More

Just stayed at the Lion for 2 nights and having booked on the comments made in the short article in the Daily Mail thought it would be a good break. Firstly I have to say the staff with the exception of one were excellent the waitresses really did a good job and the mature gentleman was spot on, it is... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit to The Lion. We appreciate all feedback from our guests.
