Having just returned home after a 2 night stay at this hotel my wife myself and two friends felt rather disappointed. I booked this pub/hotel blind, without research and could not believe my luck. It's been modernised without losing the oldie worldy atmosphere. Although the hotel is ready for refurbishing it is clean and tidy the food and beer were excellent the staff friendly and helpful and all at the right price. I stayed 2 nights at a hotel in grasmere paying nearly 3 times the price and not as good. Golden lion definitively recommended on price. more
