Of the 18 B&Bs booked for our Pennine Way trek, my husband and I voted Woodland House in Cowling the best of them all - the welcome from Susan and Sandy, comfort, cleanliness and breakfast quality couldn't have been better. Had a good meal at the Indian restaurant (Zeera) down the road. A great stopover experience and one to definitely... More

We needed a b&b, just somewhere to lay our heads after a party. Was recommended this little treasure what a find. Excellent hosts very welcoming and friendly. The room was very clean and the bed was so comfy. Had all the little touches even had tooth floss. The breakfast was extremely filling and included homemade jams, marmalade and bread. Would... More

I stayed for one night whilst walking the Pennine Way. I was warmly greeted and served coffee and cake in the conservatory. The owners have a done a fair bit of walking themselves so they were interested in my walk and it was a pleasure talking with them at the end of a long day of walking. I was given... More

This excellent B & B is situated a little way off the Pennine Way, but Susan sent directions for an interesting short cut route from the PW which avoided a main road walk (but take care on the steep slippy spot near the bottom of the path). Room and breakfast fully up to the best standards. I ate at the... More

We stayed at Woodland House while walking the Pennine Way. The trail had been quite boggy and ugly that day and we got lost trying to find the "shortcut" the hostess had recommended. As a result we were tired and unhappy when we got there. The hostess immediately made us wonderful by offering us a complimentary glass of wine! The... More

This was a very welcome stop for me, partly because I had pulled a calf muscle whilst walking the pennine way and was glad for anywhere to stay, but mainly because the hosts were genuinely friendly and interested in me as an individual. I was offered tea and cake on arrival and my room was great. I was also given... More

My husband and I stayed here one night as part of our Pennine Way walking holiday. This B&B was one of the best we stayed at on our holiday. It is situated pretty close to the Pennine Way. Across the road is a mini supermarket which sells a good choice of foods & drinks. It sells lots of snacks too,... More

A delayed review because only just writing up notes. One of the best B&Bs friend and I have stayed in during Land's End to John O'Groats walk over a number of years. Friendly and helpful hosts and excellent food. Glad to see it is still getting good reviews.

On the Keighley to Burnley bus route, this B&B is a home from home. The pot of tea and cake upon your arrival make you feel really welcome. The room was beautifully decorated with personal touches adding to the sense of homeliness. Food was available in the nearby Thai restaurant or in the Dog and Gun about a mile away.... More

Woodlands House is a typical bed and breakfast. Our visit started off badly with nobody home upon our arrival. Nevertheless, things improved after that and we were more than happy with our stay. The hosts Susan and Sandy were very obliging and keen to assist whenever possible. The room was comfortable and the 'full English breakfast' the following morning was... More
