It's so difficult to review Gothic House, everyone has already said how brilliant the place is. They have complimented the decor, raved about the wonderful Khmer, and commented on the absolute blessing of having secure parking! Clive's food has been noted, discussed and praised, along with the choice, and the tea & coffee being served from silver pots. All this... More

Oh this was such a good find. We like comfort and elegance as opposed to stark, minimalist hotel rooms and Gothic House is our idea of heaven. It is simply quite lovely. No bland and boring beige here. Every room has personality and charm thanks to the tasteful design of Clive who is a wonderful host. It's an interesting house... More

A winter break in a city little known to either of us.My sister and I throughly enjoyed our short stay here made all the more enjoyable by Khmer, the Burmese cat, and his antics, but of course more so by Clive and his interesting stories and thoroughly charming welcome. We slept well and ate well-the wafting smell of Clive's fresh... More

We had looking for somewhere special to stay in Norwich for some time and were despairing of finding anywhere that ticked all the right boxes. And then we stumbled across Gothic House. It is a short walk away from the centre of the city, tucked back from the road, very comfortable yet impeccably presented, offers an unbeatable breakfast and the... More

First and foremost: STAY NOWHERE ELSE. And Khmer The Merciless? Well, "Khmer The Shy" comes closer -- a half-Burmese black cat that clearly is very much In Charge of the household, but who took a bit of time to warm to us -- at any rate, Khmer, Clive & Clive made us warmly welcome, housing and feeding us impeccably in... Located in a gated mews-type courtyard off A busy street, the Gothic House is peaceful and secluded but pretty close to the centre of town. There's no garden and the yard is surrounded by some less beautiful modern brick buildings, but the interior is so well done that you don't need to look out of the windows much. The Clives... More

What better endorsement can one give a hotel than by returning to it well within the year? As before, the hotel and Clive the owner were very welcoming (as was the delightful house cat Khmer!). It is technically a B&B but that seems to undervalue its very presence; it is historically interesting, stylish, classy yet still intimate and friendly. The... More

A lovely house, in a great location, right in the heart of Norwich, and such a welcoming place to stay. The rooms are exceptional, and the breakfasts set you up perfectly for a day sight seeing, shopping, arts or partying. We were in Norwich for the first time, and loved the city, meeting old friends, enjoying the festive shopping, bookshops,... More

A stay at Gothic House is reason enough to visit Norwich. I’d gladly swap some of our Scandinavian starkness for a touch of Gothic House charm and history; I loved being surrounded by all Clive’s beautiful things. They made a tremendous difference: they reminded me of the pleasures of civilization. Although its secluded but central location and close proximity to... More

This was our first stay in Norwich and it couldn't have been better. Gothic House is like your own personal boutique hotel, cozily tucked away in a courtyard off of Magdalen Street. The attention to detail is excellent. On arrival our room was festooned with little extras like a jar of assorted biscuits, a decanter of sherry, a bowl of... More
