Only tea and coffee in room, no decaf options. Would have liked some bottled water. Was given four keys but no explanation which door they were for, so a lot of messing about getting back into building. Breakfast limited to full English + toast and jam. Tea or coffee, again no decaf. Both served in a cup, no teapot. Orange... More

Thank you for your review. With regards to the keys, our bar manager clearly explains the use of each one as you are shown to your room, demonstrating what they are for as you are shown upstairs; if you were not entirely clear, we would recommend asking for further clarification. The keys provided are to allow guests easy access to their... The room was tidy and reasonably comfortable but there were too few sockets and what was there had extension leads plugged into them to make them accessible for the kettle and bedside lights. The shower was small with nowhere to put soap etc. and although two in the room only 1 glass for use. The breakfast was a fry up... More

Nice place inside, its so easy to walk or drive past without even noticing this place. Its dark inside, but do not be afraid to venture inside as its clean and comfortable and has nice friendly people. Atmosphere is nice and relaxed and service is good. I think some of the meals are a little highly priced, but the Sunday... More

Spent 3 nights here & was good. Parking a bit of a problem - car parked is absolutely jam packed but they did move a car when we arrived to make space for us. Room was clean & comfortable & the breakfast substantial - you won't want much lunch! would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for 2 nights, lovely and clean, we stayed in room 7 had a huge bathroom. Only drawback was on main road could be a little noisy. Only a short walk into town. There was live music in the bar on Saturday evening a shame that hardly anyone in the bar to hear it! Breakfast was included - juice, tea/coffee... More

Many thanks for your review, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Unfortunately being so central, city noise can sometimes be heard when windows are kept open, and we thank you for your understanding regarding this. We hope to see you again in the future should you visit Norwich. More

We visited Norwich at the end of April for a few days and stayed at the Trowel and Hammer. It’s really handy for Norwich Town Centre and the Bus Station which are both only a couple of minutes walk. We stayed in Room 3 which was comfortable and certainly big enough for two of us for 5 nights. The owners/staff... More

We stayed for 3 nights, room 6 is a generous size, lovely and clean, with nice bedding and furnishings. Room cleaned daily, towels changed and tea/coffee topped up etc. Nicely cooked breakfast and we ate in one evening, food freshly prepared. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Bonus is location so close to city centre, their car park is very busy... More

We stayed there for a Christmas shopping trip to Norwich. Really helpful from the moment we arrived - a parking place had been kept for us by placing another car there and moving it when we got there - simples! The room (no 5) was fantastic, far nicer that you would generally expect in a pub. As other reviewers have... More
