Located on the riverbank and across the river/road from the train station this hotel has a great location. At the end of Prince of Wales Road which IS the local club scene but as long as you don't mind walking past lots of teenagers queuing for night clubs/cashpoints it's not a problem - we never saw any 'trouble' at all.... more

Stayed at Nelson in June after having a casual drink there on a previous occassion. This hotel has undergone a majour revamp, so the older reviews should be taken lightly. Paid extra for a 'superior' room. Never! Bathroom must have been original from when the hotel was first built - clean but very worn and tatty. Nasty hole where the fridge should have been. Cheek to leave a card of apology on the bed asking us to bear with them while the rooms were being redecorated! On the plus side... more
