Rooms are OK but they seem to have no idea about providing a service. We were ordered to go from the bar to the restaurant by some bossy waiter and then we waited for over 50 minutes to get something to eat. The cook/chef (?) managed to get undercooked and overcooked onto the same plate and then offered poultry on... more

The rooms were comfortable, the staff helpful and any requests for special dietary requirements were met without any fuss. Nothing was too much trouble for the duty manager and was able to help when needed whilst being discreet. Food was good and the location was perfect for visting the historic sites and churches both in the town and further afield.... more

The hotel makes much of its history which is great, but it doesn't work as a modern hotel. The rooms are very dated (1970's look) and when you look below the surface not very clean. For example, I wanted to open my windows which were old sash ones ingrained with dirt and dust, and could hardly move them. Everything is... more

Fantastic location right next to the cathedral entrance. We had asked for a room in the old part of the hotel and certainly got that. Very spacious and charming. However, no fridge or minibar in a 4 star hotel? Service was friendly but so disorganised and we had the impression that there were too many employees per job. Lucky for... more

This could be a wonderful hotel, but isn't. Thankfully we got a bargain room rate online so it was an OK trip. Do not eat in the restaurant - massively overpriced for both dinner and breakfast and there are better and cheaper restaurants within a 100 yard walk. Room was very hot and had no thermostat and overlooked a roofed... more

We stayed in Norwich for our wedding anniversary last month and had a very pleasant stay. The only criticism was that the room was very hot - but apart from that a lovely and comfortable room, excellent breakfast in a very central located hotel. more

Booked a few weeks ago on Folio Hotels web site, Standard double, room only, cost £118 for Friday and Saturday night. We used it solely as a base and didn't spend any real time in the hotel so can't comment on restaurant, bar or service, although I would have liked to try them because they looked really good. The room... more

All I can say is don't even try and book it. I booked over a website paid in full then travelled down for a business meeting. I rang and confirmed on the morning of my travel and also to let them know I would be checking in around 7pm (fine was the reply) Upon arriving I was handed a letter... more

The staff at the Maids Head Hotel were pleasant and friendly, and it's in a great location, right by the Cathedral and the City centre. It's an interesting building (reputedly haunted!) and in a mish mash of styles, some more attractive than others. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, and this---especially considering my single room cost £89 a night---could... more
