A colleague and myself stayed here for two nights, and the first night was fine. Nice lady on reception was very helpful. Couldn't fault the room as I accept that the hotel isn't claiming to be five-star rating. The second night - well, morning - was where it went wrong. I'd asked (and paid) for two breakfasts, but only one... More

I was on a coach trip for the weekend and was pleasantly surprised after reading the dreadful reviews. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable and had a pleasant view of the green outside. Breakfast was good although the evening meal on Saturday was a bit of a disappointing bun fight, although this was put down to guests changing their minds... More

If I could use one word to sum up my stay at the sporting lodge I would choose the word 'bitter pill' it started ok, as I approached reception I thought to myself 'this must be how the other half live, finally a touch of luxury for yours truly' how wrong I was! As I approached my room I was... More

We stayed here as part of a coach trip, if we had been here under our own steam we would have left immediately. The sheet on the bed was mouldy(about 1 metre square), pillow case had holes in it. The bathroom was very mouldy, shower curtain was mouldy and had brown stains. The extractor fan didn't work. The room was dusty.... More

In sum, I wouldn't stay here weren't it for the lack of other hotels in the area (and I could expense it!). Positives: • Great pool • Comfortable beds Drawbacks: • Consistently slow check ins/outs at reception • £3 room service charge • Room Service menu very expensive - starter & mains & drink can come to about £28 with... I was so looking forward to my wedding here, on arrival the night before with my daughter, there was confusion over my room being paid for, was even asked if i wanted to give up the bridal suite in exchange for the family room. Our room was basic, although dusty and cups needed washing. the next morning, which was morning... More

I checked in to the hotel after 4pm and check in was good, but got to the room to find there was no remote for the TV. I phoned reception and they told me to look in the drawers; I did but no luck. About 20 minutes later, I was given a remote for another TV, which I phoned up... More

Stayed here as part of the Newmarket package for the Edinburgh Tattoo and North East visit. We were glad to be given a ground floor room facing the back, so very nice and quiet. The twin beds were comfortable and clean, as was the linen and towels. Good tea-making facilities with biscuits given each day. Staff kindly allowed us to... More

Can`t comment on the accomodation but attended a wedding on Monday 25th Aug. All in all a great venue for a wedding. Nice "sports bar" to have a few drinks in waiting for all the guests. Good selection of beers and continental lagers, Estrella on draught is one of my faves, Food at the wedding really good with very attentive... More
