Stayed here on business for one night. Based on the previous reviews I had seen here I wasn't expecting much. So therefore I wasn't disappointed when I didn't think much of it. The room was ok, a double bed and a single bed even though I booked a single room. The bathroom needed updating. I'm sure it was clean, but... more

A one-night stay at the Highfield is probably not long enough to discover all the quirks of the room, but we enjoyed a really good night's sleep! The Highfield is an imposing Edwardian house, with a very good Italian restaurant, the Tavistock, on the ground floor. Room 250 was small, but with a kingsize bed. The TV was on the... more

Located next to a housing estate, pretty big car park. Didn't feel entirely safe leaving my car there. Single room - crap telly with not many channels. Room stunk of bleach and there were dirty towels in a heap on the floor. Bed was comfy enough. Ate in the restaurant (Italian themed) downstairs. Lovely grub and friendly staff. Don't think... more

Stayed here for Friday/ Saturday night whilst visiting relatives. The room (501 ) was adequate in size and light with windows at the front of the hotel above the entrance. Bathroom was pleasantly decorated and overall the accomodation was clean, if somewhat shabby and the bed comfortable. The first night we both slept well the hotel was quiet apart from... more

Mixed thoughts about this hotel. 4 nights on business. Another fine old mansion house that is converted to a hotel, Run by best western Quite grand, very nicely decorated and furnished, large bar/restaurant area. A carvery for less than £5 each evening was great!! I booked a single room, which was of reasonable size, clean and with adequate furnishing, Bed... more

The staff in this hotel were great, food was good, everything was reasonably clean. Woken at 3:00, 3:20, 4:00 and 7:00 by the fire alarm. To be honest I won't stay here again with it costing more than £85 a night, I think half that would be more appropriate. more

The latest reviews on this site suggested that this was going to be a hotel of high standards with good food, unfortunately that was not quite the case. Reception staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. The lounge area was very good. The bedroom was well equiped and generally comfortable but it seemed a bit old fashioned and... more

The Highfield Hotel in Middlesbrough really know how to look after guests and it is always my first choice when in the Teesside area. The food (Lobster) and service are unbelivable. The hotel makes me feel special. WELLDONE HIGHFIELD HOTEL more
