Great budget hotel in fantastic location. Away from the crowds, but just around the corner from the Russell Square underground station so it's easy to get anywhere in the city - as well as to and from Heathrow and the Eurostar station. Small grocery store and places to eat as well as parks nearby. Very clean and safe. Had a... More

The Celtic is a family-owned, old-style original London Hotel, with plenty of personal service and charm. Expect to meet well-trodden travelers and other characters in the comfortable, if not well-worn lobby. I particularly enjoyed being served a proper British breakfast instead of battling out at the typical breakfast buffet served by so many other hotels today. The rooms are not... More

I find it hard to write this review because I made the reservation based on positive TA reviews. The only positive is the location. We had a 3-night stay and we found it noisy--paper-thin walls; questionable cleanliness (worn, spotted and dirty carpet; there is a shared bath with a shower and WC, and there was lots of hair on the... I have stayed many times at the St Margaret's, once owned by the Marazzi family, and now more than once at the Celtic. I am impressed by the upgrading they have accomplished since my last visit several years ago. Everyone who works at the hotel is friendly and very willing to accommodate special requests. As another reviewer said, the breakfast... More

We are now on our fifth visit and it has been consistently good with the same family-owned quality service. The only problem, if you are on a diet, is that they are very disappointed if you don't eat a huge breakfast.

We stayed with these people when they owned St Margaret's in Russell Square, so came back to stay with them at the Celtic. Only negative thing is we aren't young and lugging luggage up three flights was hard for us. But, everything else gets a 10. Room was nice, private bathroom very clean. Good view, Great cleaning staff and Supurb... More

This is a review from Gary, Joanne and little Olivia the Hancock party. This is the second time we have stayed at the Celtic hotel which is a stones throw from the Russell Square tube station. It is family fun by lovely family and the lady of the house Rose Anna is an absolute joy. Very reasonable rates, spotlessly clean.... More

This hotel is not a large fancy posh place, its a small, family run, friendly, simple, inexpensive home away from home, cosy b&b. Convenient to Russell Square and tube, restaurants, supermarkets, hospitals, movies, pub, Uni and British Museum. So close to the West End but far enough to relax away from the madding crowd after a long day sightseeing. Highly... More

The only good thing is how close it is to the subway station. Noisy rooms from outside and above. Wifi signal is horrible in rooms. Many hotels around and I am sure with such prices better quality can be found nearby. I highly don't recommend this hotel

It makes a nice change to stay in a well established family run business instead of a chain We stayed at the Celtic when it was St Margarets in Bedford St. This new location is so convenient to Russell St tube which can also take you to/from Heathrow. We stayed in an ensuite room. It was fairly modest but has... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
