The Penn Club was a wonderful find. Incredible location just off Russell Square. We took the Piccadilly Line straight from Heathrow airport, and found it easy to get to the hotel from the tube. The room was cold until we turned the heaters on, and then we were perfectly comfortable. We stayed in a room with two beds and an... More

Great location in Russell Square which is on the Piccadilly Line to LHR. Very clean comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast. Your choice of Continental, fresh fruit, haddock and the usual eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast. After 12 noon you have use of a fridge and microwave, so pick up your prepared meal at a local corner store and enjoy your dinner... More

It depends on what side of the Atlantic you hail from. North Americans would equate the Penn Club experience, (situated near Russell Square), to indoor camping. Don't expect a wake-up call because (not only is there no night clerk stationed at the desk) there is no phone in the room. Don't expect parking, an elevator, television, bar, restaurant, vending machines,... More

A central yet quiet situation (certainly in the rooms facing the garden). Comfortable rooms. A quiet atmosphere. A long table at breakfast to meet interesting people and the opportunity to meet up for an evening meal. Good choice at breakfast. A really good find.

Stayed one night, in London on business. Homely, nice staff & fellow guests. Lovely Library. Old fashioned. Fabulous cooked breakfast with even black pudding! :) TV lounge quirky. Just love this place

I've stayed here 3 times and will continue to do so whenever I'm in London. It's basic, no frills accommodation but it's clean, extremely well placed and the price is right. I'd stay here for the free wi-fi alone. Rooms with toilets and those with ensuites cost more. Otherwise facilities are shared. No TV or phones in rooms. But I've... More

This B and B is definitely for the person who just wants a place to rest their head and have a good breakfast without any of the extras such as an elevator, air-conditioning,TV and a Phone in your room. The Penn Club is a haven of peace and tranquility in a busy city. It is ideally placed for public transport... More

I have stayed at the Penn Club on multiple visits to London as well as when I have been transiting to work in Africa. Located in a terrific area of London (it is a 5 minute walk to the British Museum, right by Russell Square [and the Russell Square tube] and near Bloomsbury Square) with lots of good ethnic restaurants... The rooms vary from simple with shared bathroom to en suite and the price range reflects this. I had a single en suite located at the top of the house on the third floor. The atmosphere is calm and sedate, perfect after the hustle and bustle of site seeing. Breakfast is plentiful and you can chose to sit at a... More

Wonderful location, off Russell Square. Very good, basic accommodation. I shared a twin room with a friend .I also felt that I would feel comfortable if I were staying as a single person. Excellent breakfast, helpful ad friendly staff, clean.

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
