Fantastic price in one of the most expensive cities in the world. I have stayed here three times and can say that this Quaker lodging is very clean and, while spartan, very comfortable. There is no elevator so if you cannot carry your bags up the steep stairs, request a ground floor room. There is no AC, though some limited... More

I have stayed at the Penn Club several times over the past five years. It is a very peaceful and quiet hotel in the heart of Bloomsbury, a two minute walk from the British Museum, close to Russell Square and Holborn tube stations and at a walkable distance from the British Library and Wellcome Trust. The rooms are fairly basic... More

The Penn Club. 31.3.2015 – 3.4.2015 and 24.4.2015 We were tipped off about this genuine “find” by a friend who stayed earlier in the year. While this is a club for Quakers, it is open to non-Quakers, and is a little advertised gem in the heart of London’s Bloomsbury. The Club owns four adjoining town houses, and it offers bed... More

I've stayed at the Penn Club twice since it was recommended to me by a friend last year. It is well located for central London and the peace and simplicity is a welcome antidote to the hustle and bustle that is London. Breakfast was good too. However, if you are looking for ostentatious luxury and stimulation this probably isn't the... More

This is an excellent place to stay, very central , just two minutes walk from Russell Square tube station . The place itself is excellent , the rooms very adequate and the breakfast superb . I have been on a number of occasions now and have always enjoyed my stay . Perhaps one small comment , the service at breakfast... More

The Penn Club is very convenient for Bloomsbury - perfect for academics and tourists. Good tube stops and train stations near by. It's quiet and simple, but always friendly and pleasant. I've never had problems with the wifi. Only complaint I have is that sometimes in the summer, it can be stuffy as no air con. I always stay here... More

This is a reasonably priced hotel very conveniently located. It's not fancy but you feel clean and safe here. There are no TV s in the room but with so much to do in London, I didn't miss it. the breakfast was tasty with fresh fruit and an English breakfast. Only complaint was it was difficult to log on to... More

Informed by Quaker values, the Penn Club was nearly perfect for us. All in all, a civilized experience. We aren't interested in luxury as a lifestyle, but we were grateful for the pleasures of hot water, tidiness, hairdryer, and a quiet atmosphere. The only detail I had to worked around was the strongly perfumed hand wash/soap. Our first floor room... More

Wow, this is my second stay and I just loved it even more. It really felt like home after a long day out in London. This time I was there a week. I checked in a Friday afternoon and after I got settled in my room, I could hear the neighbors snoring through the walls!! I have earplugs with me... More

I stayed here for one night as a non-member while in London on business. The room was simple but had everything I needed and was excellent value for such a great location. The Club is just 5 minutes walk to the British Museum and the British Library, a short walk to the nearest tube, and within easy reach of Camden.... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
