I recently stayed two nights in the Penn Club. It is a terrific find for the right person & situation. The location is super close to Russell Square tube, an easy walk to the theater district (assuming one likes to walk). Slight downside, but as they say, "we don't compete". Most rooms have a shared bath/shower, there are no elevators.... More

I love to stay in Bloomsbury when I return to London, it's a quiet and elegant neighbourhood, but close to everything you'll need and a good transport hub. The Penn Club is a great hotel in this area. It's not flash, but if you want a comfortable, calm, homey base this is the place. The staff are super helpful. The... More

This is the first and only review I have ever written in my 30+ years of travel. I was so excited about visiting this place, as I'd heard wonderful things about it. The pastor of my church recommended it. After all, it is a Quaker establishment and everyone knows the kindness of Quakers. To be honest, yes, the room was... More

The Penn Club with its absence of muzac thoughout, comfort of its bed bedding and pillows, and central location is perhaps the ideal place to stay in London. The Edward Cadbury Room - a quiet room within a quiet club is ideal for reading and has all the major daily newspapers. There is a separate T.V. room. The windows in... More

I've stayed here on several occasions. I have never done the European thing of sharing a bathroom, which frankly scared me a little but after staying at the Penn it was perfectly fine. I love their breakfast, they have quite a spread and all very delicious. The quiet & calm of the place is absolutely delightful. This place was first... More

Only stayed two nights, but will definitely return. Ideal Bloomsbury location, right next to the gardens of lovely Russell Square. Lots of good eating places nearby. Bustle and tranquillity side by side. And how lovely to stay in a clean simple room with no television! I met such lovely, interesting and friendly people too, and got so engaged in the... More

just off the busy square near Russell Square tube, it is a bit tired and I had to trek up 8 flights of stairs but for the price it was good value. I was staying alone and felt safe and cosy. the breakfast in the morning was really good. There are tables for small groups or a long table for... More

I have heard of the Penn Club for many years and I finally got to stay there. I have very mixed feelings. The Bloomsbury location is brilliant - round the corner from the British Museum, an easy walk to Russell Square underground and not too far to Tottenham Court Road. The place itself: not so good. It helps to manage... More

This is a club run in keeping with its Quaker tradition. It offers simple accommodation at an affordable price and it appeals to quiet, respectable, mostly older people. Each evening there is a half hour set aside for quiet Quaker worship in the lounge. Over breakfast you are expected to socialise with others if you sit with them. Not all... More

I travel to London monthly and wanted to find an affordable place to stay which might have ideally offered an alternative to the standard mid-range London hotel experience. Alas the Penn Club isn't that place. But let me begin with a positive, The Penn Club has an unrivalled location, situated just South of Russell Square and around the corner from... More
