We arrived from Australia & stayed for a few days to recover from the flight etc before moving on to meet up with family. Fab location, very basic accommodation though. No TV or kettle in room. Fully equipped Kitchen available though. We asked for a quiet room, got a rather noisy one though!!

My wife and I stayed at Northumberland House on a recent visit to London, not because of its central location but because I'm a cheapskate and £100 a night for a double bed just off Trafalgar Square seemed like a good idea to me. Yes it was a student bedroom with hooks on the wall where posters usually hung. No,... More

Location location location ! Good WiFi, good rates but it is a student accommodation (no TV, twin beds, smallest bathroom ever, old carpet, old furniture, single glass window, noise from the street (not a single noise from inside during our stay,...), linen not ironed. It's more a (cheap) youth hotel than a hotel. I would recommend it thou if your... More

We were delighted by the location. Many sights are within walking distance, also the same case for train stations, making it an enviable location. Clean, basic rooms with an ever so tiny bathroom though. Friendly and efficient who were prompt to apologise to us for an inconvenience caused to us accidentally. They also store your luggage after check out which... More

If you want a room in the centre of the West End this is unbelievable value. Using the LSE student accommodation during student holidays (Summer, Christmas and Spring) is a great idea and gives the opportunity to stay in the centre of London. The rooms are typical Student rooms with pod en-suite, single bed and desk and office chair, together... More

Basic but comfortable accommodation in Central London. The location cannot be beaten. The bathroom is small but for the price you cannot really complain. Towels were changed regularly and toiletries were provided! Not flash but excellent of the price!

The best part of this accommodation is it's location, as many have mentioned. It's really near to charing cross station (exit the accommodation and turn left) and embankment station (exit the accommodation and turn right). For my period of stay I walked around the area for the major attractions, which was a very nice experience and it saves you money... More

Super central location right next to Trafalgar Square and a short walk to Charing Cross Station. The room is clean, and I had a room with a view of Westminster Abbey. For longer stays I would bring a pack of cleaning wipes and give the place a wipe-down for dust-- but overall it's very clean and the beds are fine... More

If you want a reasonably priced bed for the night with bathroom facilities bang in the middle of London then this is absolutely ideal. I had a clean, comfortable, quiet room with free wi-fi. The toilet/shower cubicle is very small, not a problem, how much room do you need? It's a student lodging so from that it's easy to know... More

We spent last Saturday night at the LSE Northumberland Avenue as we wanted somewhere affordable to stay allowing us to go the theatre nearby and not have to rush to the tube and head home with all the drunks at 11.00 pm. First impressions were mixed as we had to queue to check in which was slightly annoying, however the... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
