Room dirty - Carpet filthy (at least sheets and towels were clean) Bathroom had a 60W light bulb on bare wires hanging from a broken fitting Shower fittings were broken Breakfast cereal was very stale All of this for the not entirely rock bottom price of £55 - You could do much better than here. It saving grace was that... More

Housekeeping in this place was none existent. Carpets needed a good Hoover, decorating needs loads of attendance and the room was tiny. This is not my idea of a hotel and I would never go there again. The place was a mess.

I arrived to be greated at reception by a gentleman who was eating a microwaved curry meal at the reception desk. I wish I had walked out then and things only went downhill from there. I was given the key to my room no 204. No lift and three flights of stairs. On entering the room I was shocked as... More

The Sophia will never win any awards but will always have a place in my heart (we got stranded in London overnight) & we walked into the Sophia & got a twin room there & then for £50 for the two of us. So cheap for this part of London. Expect no frills (heroin chic is how my tongue in... More

The place got the semi-authentic third world coutry -feel to it. Only thing good about it was the location. I feel lucky i didn't (hopefully) catch polio or some other disease from the room. Dust, lint, splatter, dirt, fungus and mold everywhere. Tv not working, cloth rack busted, even the freaking 50cent plastic tray was broken. Shower water temperature had... More

Stayed here for one night in July, was very last minute, so I was just happy to get a room for under 100 quid... To be fair to hotel Sophia, the staff were friendly and it was a cheap room at just £70 with breakfast included, (which we didn't have because we woke up late) and it's very close to... More

This hotel is awful, the room we stayed in was dirty .skirtboards were dirty carpet torn light bulbs missing cables hanging loose. The only thing good is Paddington station. The whole of the hotel was. Mess from reception to rooms. How this hotel hasn't been inspected only knows . Never again staying here

The hotel is conveniently located next to Paddington station but has no other redeeming qualities. Dirty walls, smelly carpet and no central heating. Do not go if you have kids especially as the allergies will definitely flare up.

Not sure why this place had such bad reviews - ok, if you're after a cheap place, close to the station and somewhere to sleep while you go out and experience London, this place was fine. I stayed a total of 5 nights (3 at the beginning of my holiday, 2 at the end), and it was basic, but clean,... More
