I have also stayed in Meininger in Vienna, which was by far better, and that's why I chose this one in London with no second thoughts.I think that I generally like the Meininger hostels.Friendly stuff, that makes you feel safe. It's more or less what you expect from a hostel, although I found the double room a bit overpriced (73... More

(trying my best to express in English) Living in female dorm for several days. I think they just can change some new beds. The frames of beds are tilt. And when the Mrs sleeping above me got out of bed really frightened me up! coz it made me feel like earthquake! (it's not her problem but bed!) There are 2 bathrooms... More

I read some of the reviews on this before we departed and had to make a point to prove them wrong. The hostel was very clean as was each room. Breakfast was basic but nice and enough for everyone. The bathrooms were clean and showers were good. We found the staff very helpful, friendly and easy to approach. The location... More

It would have been a nice place to stay with our budget, but we had to drag our heavy bags up four flights of stairs (the lift was broken), move rooms halfway through our week, and search for staff members willing to help us. On the bright side it was in a central part of town and was in walking... More

As i arrived in the hotel, the staff basically ignored me. I tried checking in and the woman at the till was on the phone to her friend. She COMPLETELY IGNORED ME. SO RUDE! I eventually got into my room and the bed was crawling with bed bugs! it wasn't made and there was a yellowy tinge to the sheet.... More

Excellent location but even ear plugs could not drown out much of the traffic noise for me. Felt like I was sleeping on a freeway. Stayed in private room with family and room was OK and reasonable size for London, but bathroom was extremely small. Could not recommend overall.

We stayed here as part of large group. This place can get quite busy, but they are well organised. Food isnt great, infact the Food supervisor, was a bit on the messy side of things. That could do with improvement. The staff at the front desk were really helpful, although the one male worker, has such limited English skill, you have... More

Nothing fancy, but comfortable rooms, exactly as described. Great location, just near the natural history museum. Bathrooms are tiny, but good hot showers. Very clean.

This was our first stay in Baden Powell House. IWe read the other reviews after booking and subsequently felt a bit anxious about what we might find. However, there was no need to worry. The staff were young, but polite and friendly. They were not particularly forthcoming with information - we had to ask about towels, locker room, breakfast etc,... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
