This hotel is one of the cheapest in the area. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for so we expected "basic" but we were disappointed that even some basic elements did not work properly GOOD POINTS - central location to tube station, food places and attractions - clean rooms and facilities - security is good because access... It's a real shame we get a review like this after so many good ones. It's a fair point to say 'you get what you pay for' and yes we are one of the cheapest hotels in the area, but even so, you were clearly unimpressed. Amongst your caution points are some, interestingly, that are part of what we want... More

I spent an entire month in England, and during this time, I only encountered two rude people. One was the immigration officer upon my entry into the UK, and the other one was here at St. Athans Hotel. When I checked out and payed for my stay, the attendant at the desk was really rude and not very kind to... More

I wish people would ask us before posting mis-information on Trip Advisor: guests are never knowingly over-charged. To explain - when someone pays with an oversees credit card they get the choice of paying in pounds Sterling or their own currency - if they chose pounds Sterling the exchange rate is chosen by their credit card company, and if not,... I'm on London on a regular basis & was quite surprised to find this hotel. This price is very fair - budget friendly. I´ve gambled on hotel in this price range before - with some disastrous results. (Bad hotels in London are very very bad..) But St Athans was a good find. The house is old and a bit quirky... More

Easy walking distance from St Pancras, this is a clean and comfortable place to stay. It is a good basic hotel with lots of little touches showing it is trying its best to be environmentally friendly - energy saving light bulbs, free range eggs and organic things on the menu at the breakfast place below. I found it a very... More

Cheap and central place. A little cold room and is a "Bed & Breakfast" WITHOUT breakfast. Well, the staff ask to pay the rest of the price in the last night, and later after payment they put a advice in my room to I pay the room... Quite bizarre... I showed the invoice of payment and staff said sorry but... More

Even though we provide beds and breakfasts, some people seem to take issue with the St. Athans being a 'Bed & Breakfast' because the breakfast is not included in the price, although we clearly state this all over our publicity, and at the time of booking. Not sure what else we can do to warn people. We chose to go... More

We stayed at St. Athans in a family room on the second floor. 2 adults and 2 kids. The room was very simple, but clean and the beds were comfortable. Pretty quiet area, so sleeping is fine. No breakfast included, but a good coffeshop in the hotel basement serves excellent breakfast meals and good coffe. Walking distance to Russel Square... More

I was here with two of my friends and this sort of hostel/hotel was perfect for our week-end in london! The staff was super nice and really helpful! We were able to store our luggage with them before and after our check in and check out. The cafe under the hotel was a real big plus with great breakfast and... More

Just stayed a single night at the St. Athans. Staff very welcoming. Room less so. I realise this is an old Victorian building of 3 or 4 houses knocked through, but it is very tired with lots of corridors and stairs making it unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems. The room I had was located 1 and a half floors... More

Thanks for your feedback although it didn't sound like the St. Athans was the place for you. Just so readers of your comments might be tempted, I can say that yes our place is full of winding corridors and staircases, just like the 200 year old Georgian terrace buildings they are. This of course can be is a total pain... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
