A nice comfortable hotel in a brilliant location. Friendly staff and great cafe downstairs for breakfast. Looks like they have introduced some good eco-features which I like. Would certainly go back for another stay.

Fantastic location - really convenient. Love the quirkiness of the place with slightly sloping floors and winding staircases. The staff are always really friendly and you never have to worry about booking in late or getting back to the hotel late. Always makes my stay in London less stressful.

The great central location of this hotel makes walking around London easy. The British Library and British Museum are both an easy stroll. Also close to Euston station, bus routes and Russell Square tube - with Kings Cross and St Pancras stations only a little further away. Room was simple and clean.

I traveled with two friends and we stayed three nights. The hotel is in a nice and calm neighborhood, but still very central. It is close to two different tube stations and St Pancras train station, which was perfect for us, because we traveled by train from Paris. The rooms were big, clean and nice. We shared a bathroom with... More

Staff were simply fantastic! I interacted with at least 4 different staff members during my 4 night stay, and they were all quite helpful. The neighborhood (Bloomsbury) was charming, as expected. It is located within a few short blocks of the Russell Square tube station, which was incredibly convenient. My single room with a twin bed was small, but very... More

Cheap hotel: 50 pounds per night in tiny a room without bathroom (it's cheap by London standards, however; in the US and elsewhere you'd get a huge and "professional" hotel room for the same price). That sounds claustrophobic, but considering that I was in London for only 5 nights, travelling from/to Paris via St.Pancras (Eurostar) and having as the main... More

This hotel is one of the cheapest in the area. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for so we expected "basic" but we were disappointed that even some basic elements did not work properly GOOD POINTS - central location to tube station, food places and attractions - clean rooms and facilities - security is good because access... It's a real shame we get a review like this after so many good ones. It's a fair point to say 'you get what you pay for' and yes we are one of the cheapest hotels in the area, but even so, you were clearly unimpressed. Amongst your caution points are some, interestingly, that are part of what we want... More

I spent an entire month in England, and during this time, I only encountered two rude people. One was the immigration officer upon my entry into the UK, and the other one was here at St. Athans Hotel. When I checked out and payed for my stay, the attendant at the desk was really rude and not very kind to... More

I wish people would ask us before posting mis-information on Trip Advisor: guests are never knowingly over-charged. To explain - when someone pays with an oversees credit card they get the choice of paying in pounds Sterling or their own currency - if they chose pounds Sterling the exchange rate is chosen by their credit card company, and if not,... I'm on London on a regular basis & was quite surprised to find this hotel. This price is very fair - budget friendly. I´ve gambled on hotel in this price range before - with some disastrous results. (Bad hotels in London are very very bad..) But St Athans was a good find. The house is old and a bit quirky... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
