I booked this hostel based on the tripadvisor reviews I'd read. The chap I spoke to on the phone to reserve was very pleasant, and explained why I had trouble using their online reservation. My children and I arrived at Palmer's Lodge by taxi, but it can be easily reached by tube. We did have to wait quite a while... more

This is a great hostel in a great location. The staff are excellent - always willing to help. My two qwams with the hostel were a. its really difficult to sleep at night given the floorboards and the creeking, etc. and b. the bathrooms constantly smelt like urine. Besides this it is excellent, probably more for the younger traveller looking... more

I was glad that this was my first hostel, very clean, comfortable, and charming, free internet, bar, restaurant, great staff. Unfortunately this stay made me realize, "I can't do this"! I'm just not a hostel kind of girl. The bathrooms are very cramped. There is no AC, which is common over there, but was VERY hard to sleep since it... more

I almost always stayed there when I went on weekend trips to London. The rooms are clean, quiet, and the upper beds have a rail to stop you from falling down, which is critical for me, because otherwise I would fall off the bed in the middle my sleep. The rooms are large, with storage places. The breakfast was good... more

My brother and I stayed at Palmer's Lodge for 3 nights in October of 2008. The building was a beautiful old manor house with loads of character. The front desk girls were wonderful -- full of great advice and directions, the free internet was fantastic for two laptop free travelers, and the breakfast was very appreciated. Our room was "twin... more

I stayed at Palmer's Lodge for 6 nights with my boyfriend and we were very glad that we found this hostel! Swiss Cottage is quite central (12 min tube trip to Westminster, about the same by bus to Camden Town or Hamstead Heath), the hostel is beautiful, the staff is friendly and ready to help, there is always someone at... more

It's a nice place, sure, and has a lot of character and history - it's an old mansion turned into a hostel and for someone traveling in the UK to see some history, it's a lovely building. But the place was teeming with drunken seventeen year-olds and I was the aural witness to two separate occasions of loud and fumbling... more

Stayed here with a group of female friends and I can not argue with the character of the hostel. It is charming and pleasant. The bathrooms are relatively clean and the location is not bad either. However, the deputy manager was one of the sleaziest guys that we have met, constantly pestering us and trying his best to flirt even... more

This was actually my second stay at Palmer's Lodge and will definitely not be the last one. I stayed two nights in room 004, which is a 18-bed male dorm on the ground floor. The room has two levels with 12 beds (bunk beds) on ground level and 6 beds (single beds) on upper level. Each bed has curtains and... more

Nice hostel. Bed was clean and cozy with privacy curtain and individual lights. I stayed on the first floor in the 20+ bed room. Needless to say it was noisy but that is to be expected. Bar in the hostel, nice common area, and 6 public access computers that were decent. Staff was also helpful. It was about a 10... more
