I stayed with a friend at Regina House for around ten weeks while looking for other accommodation. I could might as well been living in an African slum. In fact there were a few African visitors staying at Regina who complained about the place. There is no value for the money although the company tries to make it sound that... More

This was my worst experience ever. They only pay attention to money issues instead of service. I made only 1 reservation for 3 nights and had to change rooms, adapt to an absolutely limited reception schedule, stand in terribly dirty acommodations and sign a document in which I agreed to pay 30 POUNDS in case I lost keys even when... We arrived at Regina house after finding it very easy to find and very happy with location within walking distance to the museums and Kensington gardens and Earls court. Then we enter our private twin room which was very dirty. The carpets were disgusting!I had to keep my shoes on.Thick dust along skirting board.Walls which hadnt been painted in years and a... This hostel is located in the great location, just 2-3 mins walking from Gloucester Station. It is one of the old hostels I ever stayed, but other hostels try to make it better by make the rooms clean and repaint. This hostel is really dirty. My room (B2) was in basement floor. There was a wash basin in the room,... More

good things: close to the tube station. not bad breakfast. bad things: very very dirty room. It seems that there has been nobody before us.(I'm not sure though) the bedsheet itself was clean but the carpet seemed that it hasn't been changed for 50 years and there was tooooo much dirt here and there. It was tooooo dirty that I... More

The stay in Regina was horrific. I would give a negative score if I could. Where should I start...checked into the hotel at 6pm, no one was there (despite having told them I would check in at 6pm), had to wait for 5 minutes for someone to show up, after calling the emergency contact number many times. The guy looked... More

The location was fine, not far from the tube station and a good selection of local shops. The check in was terrible, it took over 30 mins, the guy barely spoke English. Our room was not in this block, but was 12 doors further down the road, round the corner, it was very hard to find and no clear directions... More

The location (less than 2 blocks from the tube, less than a block from an internet cafe and a block from a supermarket) and price is great, but I wasn't crazy about this place. The check-in was so painfully slow -- and then we had to climb the monstrous stairs to the 4th floor. The room was a dorm --... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
