Great location for tube and all the things we had booked to do during our weeks stay. Staff were very helpful, welcoming and friendly. Hotel clean and well maintained. Slight noise from railway. Will book again.

My daughter and I stayed at Aldgate East for 3 nights. Visiting museums. 5/10 minute walk to tube. Ideal for visiting sites. Reasonably quiet. Comfortable bed. Shower good. Recommend seeing Lord of the Dance at the dominion theatre.

Stayed here for one night in August. Had some difficulty locating Travelodge as it is located down a side street away from main roads but unfortunately close to rail lines. Check in slow due to receptionist also functioning as bar tender. Room number xx9 being odd was rail side. Noise until 1am and then again from 5.30am. Ask for and... More

All I ever expect from a Travelodge is a place to have a good night's sleep and then get out first thing in the morning. This hotel served its purpose very well, with friendly staff and chilled water with lemon and lime in the lobby due to the hot weather during our stay. The air con in all the rooms... More

Clean pleasant rooms with friendly helpful staff in a good location for the tower of London. We had a twin room on the front of this hotel ( even numbers ). The trains are noisy and whilst our room was quiet i would not have wanted a room at the back. If you are staying longer they try to accomodate... More

On check-in I was informed that the air conditioning was not working. My room was like an oven. I asked for a fan, but was told that because the hotel was full - they didn't have enough to round. They suggested taking the duvet off the bed and sleeping with no covering. The worst thing about my stay was the... More

Don`t be put off by comments about rooms backing on to the railway/underground tracks!. Okay there was some noise, but didn`t keep us awake. Family room was the best weve ever been in !! Massive, also wardrobe, large table with draws. Fab location 5 minutes to Tower of London Tower Bridge, great for a base to explore the Capital. Would... More

We booked this Travelodge because it had twin rooms. We booked four months in advance, but when we came to check in, all the twin rooms had gone, so half our party had to transfer to another travelodge (Tower Hill). Those who transferred had a better deal to be frank, in a better area, with an air conditioned room. The... More

For a Travelodge, the rooms are a good size and well maintained, except the air con. We stayed for 2 nights, after the first night we complained about the air con not working and were told that there was another switch that we needed to turn on first. Even after trying this, it still didn't work though and when we... More

Positives - The rooms were very clean and staff very helpful. Negatives - the room was unbearably hot, even with a fan. Looking at other reviews it seems there has been no aircon for more than a month. The train lines are right next to the hotel and it is extremely noisy.

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighborhood Profile
Whitechapel
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
