Great location for a great price. Breakfast was includid - there wasnt so much to choose (only toust with marmelade/butter, coffee, hot chocolate and tea), bud you can eat as much as you want. Rooms were nice and clean. So was bedroom. It's visible that the hotel is old and the equipment is old, but it was clean.

Hostel was adequate and clean, although room was rather small. Good position in centre of London though, near museums. Probably therefore good value for money because of it's situation. Staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast was cereal and toast, but that was all we wanted. We stayed here at the end of our holidays (had been elsewhere first) and had heavy... More

Superb location (opposite the Natural History Museum, a few minutes walk from the Royal Albert Hall...). Stayed in a 8-bed mixed dorm. Room were basic, but were adequate for what we needed it for. Got a good night's sleep but found some of the bunk beds not particularly robust - I woke the guest on the bottom bunk every time... More

The room was badly in need of refurbishment. We could not use the bunk bed at all since it was "shaky" and poorly constructed. The lamp on the table was broken, its lampshade had somehow been burnt. The room "decor" was really depressing. Coziness was missing entirely in the room, and it didn't feel nice to come back to the... More

The beds and breakfast were fine. BUT - the bathrooms were filthy, there was no shared lounge area, and an incident involving staff showing someone the room at 2am, waking us up and turning lights on.

The location is the only good thing about the hotel. The rooms are small, dirty and the bathroom or tap when there is one are disgusting. The bath and the tap are rotten. You can't touch them. Some pupils had soap mousse instead of water pouring down. The kitchen doesn't look like a kitchen but like a squat. The window... More

Stayed there for one night as we were making our way to Rome by bus. The room was clean and our 'roommates' were quiet and respectful. Had to leave early (630am) so didn't get any breakfast. Also, no one was at the front desk to get my room key deposit back from (sign said back in 5 mins, I waited... More

My friend and I stayed at the acacia hotel on a recent trip to London. The location and price of this hostel were great. The room was clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable however the shower facilities were not the greatest, as there seemed to be issues with the water pressure and the shower rooms could have been... As a student on my way out to an exchange I decided to spend a couple of days in London before my flight left. I thought I'd chip in for my mum and I and book a hostel, something which horrified her when I told her! Obviously these feelings weren't made any better with some of the reviews on here.... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
