I was looking for somewhere affordable and safe to say in London. The hotel is great for a solo traveler. The staff were lovely. I was blown away by the cooked breakfast (as I wasn't expecting it). Just up the road from the British Museum. Thank you very much! Rob

I have stayed in three of the many small hotels in Georgian houses along Gower and this is my favorite. Tiny room but recently renovated bathroom and the breakfast room/lounge on the lower level has also been remodeled and is clean and bright. My room at the back had a view of lovely gardens. Free WiFi is good. No AC... More

I've stayed at the Jesmond multiple times over the last 20 years and have always found it a reliable, clean, friendly B&B. its family run for a long time now. they serve a hearty breakfast (loads of calories for all that walking and sightseeing). my advice - opt for a shared shower room option. to some it may seem foreign... I stayed here for five nights while on a training course that saw me travelling all around London. The hotel's close location to the tube station made it ideal for exploring the city and I was very pleased with how quiet, clean and cosy my single room was (it was small in size but entirely habitable and it had a... I believe all reviewers pointed out its great location - very near the tube, easy access to tourists areas, near a supermarket, and pubs/restaurants; the good value of the room; and of course wonderful breakfast. But what I like the most was the effort from the owner Glyn, who tried to call us on the day my husband and I... More

We stayed four nights at the Jesmond in a triple room on the very top floor. It was clean, quiet, and a convenient location. The room was not fancy, but surprisingly large. The bathroom was shared with other rooms on our floor, but it was literally just outside our door. Breakfast was great! Laundry service was also helpful. Not a... More

I loved staying at the Jesmond Hotel. It is in Bloomsbury which is a literary and university area of London. The hotel is on Gower Street close to the British Museum and bus and underground lines. Jesmond is family owned and run with a friendly atmosphere and a large English breakfast included in a reasonable price.

The Jesmond was like staying at a friends home and having someone make you breakfast. We stayed in a downstairs room near the "living room" and breakfast area. The bed and breakfast was close to all the bus and tube stops we needed to run around London on. Nice people, nice area, not fancy but perfect for our needs.

I ABSOLUTELY loved being at The Jesmond as recommended in Frommer's! What a GREAT location!! There is a pub right down the street, the tube is easy walking distance and the Jesmond Hotel is lovely! PERFECT for me, a single female traveling solo worried about Jack the Ripper. No worry. Gower Street is in a nice student neighborhood and I... More

I stayed at the Jesmond for 6 nights, in 3 different rooms it was very clean, even though they were renovating part of the hotel. The staff was especially friendly and accommodating. They even loaned me an adapter plug so I could charge my phone. The breakfast was very good, and the hotel isn't far from the Goodge and Russell... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
