This hotel is well situated - overlooking Blackheath and only a 5 minute walk from bars, restaurants and station. The decor requires modernisation and a general clean-up - the ceiling in the restaurant being one of the worst examples. We found our double room was hot, even when we opened the window for some air - needless to say there... More

We arrived very early in the morning to London Heathrow on a Monday morning. We stopped at the tourist desk at the airport to ask some questions. Originally we had been booked into an Inn in Hampstead. The man at the desk was able to find us a room at the Clarendon for close to equivalent price and it was... More

Booked the garden room suite here, great hotel, really good for tube access straight into all central London. Clean, comfy and heart buffet breakfast. Nice to walk into local village for dinner and a beer, Definitely recommend, but never looked at the standard rooms.

So glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay - it's quite rare to find hotels with nice gardens in central London, so its good that you were able to enjoy the garden during this lovely sunny weather. More

We only booked for 1 night to attend wedding on HMS President, we arrived just after noon even though check in is from 3. We needed a room to change into from travel clothes to wedding attire. This posed no problems and we were quickly shown a room to use. All the staff are very polite, professional and friendly. Breakfast... More

On arrival, upgraded to a large room overlooking a garden courtyard, which was a bonus. Comfortable room, although TV offering is a little mixed (SKY channels are welcome, but other channels a bit limited and unreliable in quality). Breakfast is pleasant, good range of things to choose from. All in all, would use again. Didn't use it, but looks like... More

I didn't know what to expect from this hotel as the website didn't really make it clear. The Clarendon is one of a series of Georgian town houses along Bedford place, all run by Grange Hotels. I had an executive room, which was quite roomy for English standards, furnishings were lovely. Breakfast was included. All quite nice. Russell square is... More

We booked here recently for two nights, and our stay was fine, the room was large and spacious and the room was well equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, fridge etc. The location was excellent for most areas, the British Museum is just around the corner and Covent Garden, Oxford Street, Leicester Square and the Riverbank are all within walking distance!... Thank you for your review. The two hotels are almost identical with the same decor and original features however the Clarendon has a restaurant. The upgrade would have related to the size of the room and all the rooms in the Portland have kitchenettes as well. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay and the surrounding area we look... More

we had never been to London so we didn't know where to stay. my travel agent booked us here and it was a great find. At first it seemed really out of the way but it's literally around the corner from the British Museum. It's walking distance to just about every place (we don't mind a 20 minute walk). We... More

I was attending a conference in Russell Square so it was ideally located. The room was small but equipped helpfully. It was a clean and up together room - fit for purpose. In comparison to the hotel I had stayed at near Oxford the preceding evening, this hotel fared very favorably. The bar is very small and almost missable, but... More
