As you know by now, this is a dormitory....not a budget hotel, B&B or guest house. However, the location was great. I generally try to stay in dormitories when I travel alone as all I care about is a place to lay my head and the ability to do some cooking. When the wife's along, it's five-star hotels. I have... Just a few blocks from the coach station. It's a dorm for students so it's pretty basic but clean. Bath is down the hall so bring sandals. The value was great and we'd stay again. If you are looking for a cooked breakfast, head over to Artillery Row for some cheap and friendly cafes.

As others have pointed out, the rooms at Wigram House are basic. Why 4 stars, then? Quite simply, because I really enjoyed my stay. I was in London on business, but I'm self-employed, so I keep costs low. My room, at £43 a night, was comfortable and good value (just not pretty or ensuite). Better still, there is a pleasant... As the title suggests, this is for travellers/those visiting London who have a reasonably low budget. The location is excellent, being within a 5 minute walk from Victoria Tube Station, and 10 minutes away from Trafalgar Square and the South-bank. For this reason alone, the rooms offer excellent value. In my experience, rooms are clean, typical student accommodation-type rooms, offering... More

I recently stayed here at Wigram House for one night. It is in a good location, especially as I was travelling around a lot and I came from the coach station, so I walked. The tube is nearby also. Reception staff were also helpful. This was a dorm room the size of a shoe box. The bed was a small... More

Wigram House is well located - Victoria Station, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey are within easy walking distance. However, this is typical student accommodation and very basic. Our twin room had two beds with thin mattresses and pillows, a wash hand basin, cupboard, desk and drawers. Floors were very creaky and the carpeting was grubby in areas. The shared kitchen... More

My two teenaged children and I booked two rooms here in June. Despite being minutes from Victoria Station, Wigram House is on a very quiet street. My room overlooked Westminster Bell Tower. This is a dormitory so just the basics: twin beds with thin mattresses, a desk, a cupboard, and a sink in a room with high ceilings and large... More

If you don't want to read the whole review, just know that I would only recommend this place as a budget option in London that isn't a hostel. First, the good news: it is one of the few affordable places in central London that will get you your own room. It is maybe 3 minutes from the Victoria train station... More

We stayed here for budget reasons. The good: convenient location to tube, on a quiet street, nice looking building and area, but there were not good eating options in the Victoria area. Pret a Manger, but we look for a bit more local flavor when we travel. My Mum stayed in a dorm in Marlebourne and that is a mecca... More

Wigram House is a college dorm with all the attendant attributes of a college dorm. Do not have any grander expectations of Wigram House. All rooms include a sink, but shared toilets and showers are only a couple doors down. Again, the showers are college dorm showers. Students live here and use them! Toilets are in a separate bathroom and... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
