Having been here on a fair few occasions as a leader within an organised group the refurbishment has really improved the feel of the place. Gone are the strange space age blue lights and in come more homely features. Now the communal areas are fine to spend a couple of hours waiting for members of your group to arrive and... More

The title of this experience: A once in a lifetime experience! Why? Because we are not coming back to this place: I am an experienced traveller and visited hostel all over the globe. Mainly outside Europe. This hostel pretends to be progressive. But it's not. You can compare it to other chain hostels like YHA, Nomads or Base. Pro: Location... More

Quite simply, the best hostel I've ever stayed in. It really goes to show that a bit of foresight and money can create a comfortable but affordable place for young people to stay. On arrival we we're greeted by the security guard (the hostel is down an alley off Tavistock Place) who was a little abrupt but I guess they... More

A place full of people and life in the midst of peaceful Bloomsbury. We stayed in a prebooked double room. Strange room planning: no wardrobe or locker here, drainage in bathroom not where you shower but on a toilet level. Mostly friendly staff. What is called breakfast buffet is a queue system for a one-time take of adequate and fresh... More

The Generator Hostel is excellent for young people to stay. I have booked my 2 son's into the hostel for their stay in London. On numerous occasions l have contacted the Travel Desk for help with transfers, information about the tube train system and things for my son's to see. I was able to book and pay for a shuttle... Generator Hostel is an excellent base for solo travelers to London. The hostel is 10 min walk to either Russel Square or Euston underground. Surrounded by a fair few cafe/eateries. Takes 25/30 mins to walk to Picadilly Circus. I stayed in an 8 mixed dorm - clean, beds comfortable, each person has a large locker for storage. Beds are quite... More

I've been there with my boyfriend so we booked the private double room. It was tidy, clean and the breakfast was great! You can let your luggage in a room there if you arrive before the check in hour.

To be honest, we have always stayed in this area of town but this is a first time for us at the Generator. Me and 11 year old shared a bunk bed in a private twin with shared bathroom and the room was roomy, with sink and plenty of electrical outlets to charge your gear. We did the breakfast most... More
