Our travel agent recommended the Generator Hostel because it is inexpensive, clean, and safe, BUT he didn't tell us about the not so endearing bits about Generator Hostel. - It is noisy at the Generator Hostel. The party never stops. Bring earplugs. - The decor is warehouse rave. Blue lights. Industrial feel. Not cozy. - It is massive and unless... more

This hostel is simply way too big and massified. While it is well equipped with everything you need, if you're looking for a nice, cozy, friendly atmosphere, this is not the place to go. Everything is huge - the dorms, the bathrooms, etc. The bar is good fun, as long as your room is not downstairs from it. Overall a... more

If you're looking for a hostel where you can meet people, just forget about this place. It's a huge, huge hostel, just like an army camp, hundreds of doors and beds. There's a bar/disco in the first floor, just like a thousand in any city in the world. It's so big that the guy at the door always ask you... more

The rooms were abit dirty, but the shared bathrooms looked liek they had just been renoavted & were quite good & always clean. The bar was good with lots of cheap drinks which always helps when your on a budget! Staff were pleasent & helpful, overall quite a good hostel. more

I spent most of the time outside the hostel sightseeing London and western England. I stayed in a six-person, all-female room. I didn't spend any time in the bar so I can't really comment there. The subway is not that far a walk from the hostel. The hostel is one block away from a park and a major shopping mall... more

I'm 31 and I've never stayed in hostels before... I like the Hilton and Sheraton... I'm obsessed with cleanliness and I know they never let me down! I know what I will get when I arrive! But, for the first time in my life, I went on a 4-days weekend amongst friends to somewhere and I took the chance of... more

Not bad. Fairly clean but the rooms were quite ordinary.. The breakfast was sufficient and the bar was large enough to fill a lot of people. The WiFi was very slow and expensive. Found good deals with the bike -- but need to check out the bikes early. http://www.runineurope.blogspot.com more

Brilliant value for money. I've stayed over four times in three years, and always a great place. The Staff are always friendly and helpful. You get a room key, information, and even a free drinks voucher for happy hour! The rooms are always tidy, fellow travellers are always happy and chat. Ther are computer rooms, after hours drinking and even... more
