5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We only stayed at the South Place Hotel for one night but thought this was a really pleasant place to spend the weekend. The hotel is located north of the "Bank" tube station and easily reachable with a short walk. Even though we arrived early in the morning, the room was already ready. The check-in was quick, the room was... More

I stayed at the South Place for 2 weeks on business and it was a wonderful stay. Being away from home for work weeks at a time is exhausting but the facilities and the staff made everything a little bit easier. The shower and the bed are exceptional and the room service was great, too. Breakfast was delicious (tried everything... More

Luxurious boutique with roof top bar and great restaurant. Glossy, hi tech spec and great, spacious rooms with super comfortable Hypnos mattress which is genuinely great for sleep. Windows feature electric black out blinds which offer total darkness. Modest sized gym with modern equipment (elliptical, treadmill, bikes plus dumb bells and multi-machine. Service from reception/breakfast is impeccable, although both times... More

At the height of an unusual London heatwave we found welcome respite in the air conditioned rooms of South Place the day before our wedding. The staff were fantastic, taking care of everything from steaming my dress to providing lunch for the bridesmaids. The steam room and sauna were a treat! We enjoyed a very spacious suite with a double... More

great to find a place so close to / in The City that is quality. not tiny boutique and not massive chain. The (largely European and young) staff try really hard and the vibe is good. Lots of different places to drink and eat, quality furnishings and fitout. some tiny niggles not worth mentioning in detail. I slept very well.... More

I stayed at the South Place for two weeks for work. Usually I dread staying in any hotel for that amount of time because the monotony of the same food and location can be stifling and the staff can become inattentive. Not so at the South Place. I'm itching to go back! First, it should be noted that this is... More

I took my husband here for his birthday in February and it was fantastic. The hotel is very modern and the rooms are great with every mod con and superb bathrooms. The staff were very friendly and informative and they left a card and cake in the room for my husband which was such a lovely touch. When we arrived... More

We have used this hotel before for dinner in the Angler and short stays - when we dropped in this time ad hoc and without any booking, then I have to say 'hats off' for superb response and the understated efficiency of the service is superb .

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
