According to the dictionary "bedbugs don't fly". But there is a certain dictionary that claims that their guests are bitten by mosquitos when confronted with huge itchy bumps on your skin. If you notice any swollen, reddish itchy something on your face, neck or arm don't try to let the stuff of the "Dictonary hostel" know. They will just treat... More

As has been reported in previous reviews, we have had an outbreak of bedbugs in the hostel and this has, unfortunately, meant that we have got more experience in identifying these bites than we might like. We have brought in a professional pest control company which is working hard to ensure that we are, and remain, bed bug free. More

We didn't have any problems with this hostel and enjoyed our stay. Found the staff very friendly, rooms clean and kitchen excellent. Only issue was our room was loud at night due to the bars and busy street.

Thanks for your review - we are working on the noise, with plans for more insulation and better windows in the works! More

This hostel is located in ideal place if you want to party but if you don't then it's not the one for you. The rooms were very warm as there was no ventilation which made sleeping very different. The other thing is that in our level there was only one toilet which was shared by a lot of people so... More

An affordable hostel, rooms and bathrooms are clean, just a water pressure problem in the shower... but water came finally :) The hostel is really well located in the heart of Shoreditch area, so really easy to get home after a crazy night in the area.

Never actually got to stay here because when I arrived the obnoxious little **** on reception informed me that I was 'too old'. 'We're not allowed to take anybody over 35' was what this charmless Antipodean oaf told me, repeatedly, in front of witnesses. In addition, this little **** literally sneered at me when I gave him my ID 'you're... More

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback, and we are very sorry for the distress and inconvenience you experienced. We do have an 18-35 year age range for our guests, as highlighted in our terms and conditions; however, this is not a hard and fast rule and reflects more a consideration of the 'youth hostel'... AFTER paying for 3 nights they told us we had to split up.. 4 for us in one room, the other one alone in one room. There was no discussion possible and the girl ("Kirsty"?) was very rude to us. The last day 2 beds in our room came available, but again nothing possible. Finally the beds were still empty... More

Thank you for your feedback and we're sorry for the inconvenience. We have a pest control company working in the building to solve our bedbug problem and are also sealing the brick walls where we have found the bugs to be living. Although we do try to keep our guests together as much as possible, when we are busy it... More

I've stayed in many hostels around Europe and this hostel is just horrible. When we checked in everything went wrong and we had to look for another place for that same day. Horrible experience. List of the things that went wrong: 3 big rats in the room, bottles of wine were stolen, my room wasn't unoccupied and the manager didn't... More

We stayed at the dictionary hostel for 3 nights, a Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Luckily for us there were two beds in the 6 person mixed dorm, Friday nights in summer are very popular. The dictionary is really trendy and suits the neighbourhood it is in. However it seems a little worse for wear, a few of the showers... More

My first hostel experience: I didn't have high expectations, but it definitely wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I didn't mind staying here, although I definitely couldn't have stayed any longer than I did because the room I was staying in was not properly ventilated and was unbearably hot (there was a heatwave in London the week I was...
