It was fine. Very central. Difficult to draw out a suitably stunning memory other than I struggled to find a socket. Being terribly English I needed a cup of tea at the end of the day but took me ages to find the one socket down on the floor to plug the kettle into. Sure I was missing something. I... More

My husband and I stayed at the Crowne plaza city for2 nights in a room on the 7th floor, which is reserved for club members. The room was excellent with great views, a comfortable bed and pleasant decor. The staff were helpful and it was very nice to have a separate members lounge where we could have breakfast and free... Stayed here for a family get-to-gether. Ideally situated for St Pauls, Blackfriars, Tate modern, Globe theatre. Travel by bus and tube is easily accessible. The hotel rooms were comfortable and a good size. We opted to purchase breakfast which was well worth the extra expense. Would stay at this hotel again.

Stayed here for a total of 4 nights while travelling. The rooms are great, clean spacious and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The staff are very friendly, especially Lee and the concierge team who go out of their way to make bookings and recommendations for a wonderful time in London. The hotel is located right opposite a... More

I stayed as an IHG member. The breakfast and happy hour provisions were good. The mattress was a bit worn out. Good location to walk to St. Paul's. It's a bit of a hike - even on the tube to get over to Westminster Abbey and those locations. Front desk staff was very friendly.

This hotel is opposite Blackfriars Tube and Rail Station 5mins walk from St.Pauls Cathedral. During the week it is bustling with city business types, but at the weekend it is an altogether calmer affair and the staff have plenty of time to assist you. The rooms are clean and modern, and if you can get a room on the 6th... More

I do wonder why Hotels do not spend more time touching up the scratches, marks, and stains in rooms? Stayed in a very nice Studio Room, but it was in need of a touch up on so many wooden surfaces, that would have resulted in a better room! I cannot believe that the hotel is running at such high occupancy... More

Return stay here. Really rate the location and the staff. Room on 5th floor was fine. Only grumble is the double bed which is on the small side and had a mattress topper which made it really lumpy. Not sure why this is preferred by the hotel as opposed to a standard soft mattress? Regards

Only being there for 2 days, the choice of this hotel by our travel agent was good. I assume you don't get a lot for your money in London so hard to compare. LOCATION: Across the street from the Blackfriars tube and train station. Short walking distance to the City. 20-minute walk to Covent Garden. 1,5-hour drive to LHR with private limousine during rush hour, cost: GBP 80. HOTEL: Welcoming and helpful bell staff. Very friendly check-in, but disorganized. Check-out date incorrect, though we repeatedly pointed it out via emails and during the... More

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
