Found this place by chance last summer, whilst the wives were shopping the brother in laws spent a brilliant afternoon soaking up the unique atmosphere that is the Portobello Gold. Liked it so much we have just returned from our first of many overnight stayes. My wife and i booked tickets for a show and decided to stay here, what... More

My fiancee stayed here for four nights and really enjoyed ourselves. London in expensive, and I was excited to find a decent price on a hotel room. They had ongoing renovations of other rooms while we were there (which were no big deal), but the staff fell over themselves trying to make us feel comfortable with what they felt were... More

We initially called in here for a quick drink, but then decided to eat as well. It is a great looking pub, with a reasonable menu. The chicken supreme I ordered was very tasty - but I was not sure that what arrived was actually a supreme. I also suspect that there is better locally, but there were no real... More

We stayed at the Gold as part of a bday treat for my girlfriend. Room 6 is my favourite with the roof terrace overlooking portabello rd. the Staff are so friendly and make you feel like a VIP. Use the gold as a hub with fatnastic food. Plus you can leave your car behind and enjoy what London has to... More

The Gold never fails to let us down My guys love to stay whilst working in Town and it's like my local when I am there too. I hear the elusive George is back and am looking forward to seeing his happy little face in April when I am booked for 3 nights

The room was warm & clean and couldn't have been any nearer the world famous market. In fact the market appeared mysteriously overnight right outside the B & B door. All the staff were very approachable and welcoming. Particular highlights are their coffee and Sussex real ale. Sunday lunch was excellent too. The ensuite was slightly reminiscent of the tardis.... Perfect location on Portobello. Clean rooms, good staff, great pub. Central location so we could get anywhere by tube and only 10 minutes into the west end. Will always use this place when I'm in London.

Pub/BnB level accommodation -- so you need to know what to expect before you sign on to stay. This is not a hotel. We had visited the pub last summer, so knew exactly what we were getting, and overall were very happy with our stay. The staff were friendly and always willing to help out with directions, recommendations, etc. The... More

Staying in Notting Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.
