First, the service of Merlyn Court is amazing. The entire staff made us feel at home and always had time to answer questions and to meet any needs that we had. They were certainly above and beyond. The Merlyn Court is also tidy, the beds were comfortable, and we loved the old hotel decor. Furthermore, the location is great, less... More

Good price for a great location but small rooms (one small hard back chair), no other sitting area, no tv, and very limited wifi (as others have noted). Worked for us because we wanted something affordable in a good location (and the neighborhood is great).

Great central location, very small room, no tv...all ok so far, but the wifi advertised is only available from the lobby, so not convenient, and the other bad surprise was the breakfast in the stark basement room without ambiance nor coffee; you must wait for the waitress to boil the kettle to make instant coffee, and serve you dry toast,... As an emergency I've used this kind of B&B in London. The location is quite good, but is really a cheap solution. No elevator available than if you're unlucky (like me) you've to reach the third floor with your luggage in a really narrow staircase. Is almost clean but all the accomodation is cheap and needs retrofit. Good tihing about... More

Really clean room, very friendly and warming staff. Breakfast was nice, fab location 3 minute walk to tube station..everything you need from leisure to food is walking distant away! Definitely recommend!

Right by Earls court station which is on the piccadilly line and is a straight train to Heathrow. Ample food to be found around the neighbourhood. Got upgraded to a quad room even though I booked a single. Small ensuite and unusable window. Warm shower works well. Beds are thin and springy. Good for an overnight stay.

I first stayed at Merlyn Court in 2005 and again the first week of September this year. It's a lovely old world sort of place and I don't think that you could find a better value anywhere in London proper. The rooms are eclectically furnished, each one has it's own personality. They are cozy and warm, and you can actually... More

It was a nice hotel, helpful people, but there wasn't a lift and walking upto the 4 floor with a toddler and being pregnant was a task, the room was really nice and clean though we didn't have a tv or tea and coffee making facilities. The shower was lovely, easy to get to the right temp.

London is not cheap. So if you want a comfortable, reasonably priced hotel that is very conveniently located to an underground station (Earl's Court), then Merlyn Court is a good choice. Very friendly, helpful staff; rooms are comfortable and clean. This is not the Hilton by any means, but it's a matter of context--convenience and affordability--and the Merlyn scores well... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
