It was my first time in London and as I knew St. Christopher s from Paris I booked it also in London. And it was -again- a very good choice. Seriously, I have been to some hostels before but this was the best ever! Staff was very nice , it was clean and calm. In the room everything was nice... More

The hostel is divided for two ones, located next to each other: Village & Inn. The surrounding area is very busy, full of life. They serve breakfasts in the restaurant downsairs. And the restaurant is always crowded on days. Despite of that, the rooms are silent. I had a nice stay.

The hostel is great! The room was really clean and the bed was also comfortable. Bathrooms and showers also clean. Location is good. You have to walk a little bit to get to some parts of London, but there is always the option to use public transportation. The only downside was the staff. Every time I had to go to... More

We were very sorry to read that your stay with us was not as enjoyable as it perhaps could have been due to some issues that seem to have arose during your visit. As we are all backpackers ourselves we understand how it feels to be in a new country and how a helpful hand can go a long way.... More

This is the best hostel I stayed at in 8 months of backpacking. The beds are perfectly clean and comfortable! The room I stayed in was nice and quiet. Breakfast was great, belushis bar close by as normal with good deals for guests! great vibe! Cinema room was great!! Staff were friendly! close by tube and several attractions around London!... Forget about sleeping if you go there on a weekend. There is a pub just under so you'll hear the music and shouting of drunk people all night long. That being said, the staff is nice, facilitied great and the hotel is very conveniently located.

Thanks so much for the review but we're sorry you had a bad stay due to noise. As you are correct, we do have an inhouse bar with a lively party atmosphere, at times it can get a bit loud. We do however keep a fairly close eye on the volume so we were quite surprised that you could hear... More

In November I attempted to move to London. Some things went horribly wrong and I found myself jumping between hostel rooms for almost two weeks. St. Christopher's Village was my home base during this time, and I am so grateful for the experience that I had there. First, I wanted to say that the staff are FANTASTIC. Super friendly, very... I had my bank card stolen in Spain the day before arriving in London. I only realised it was gone when I got to the airport. When I got to this hostel I told them what had happened and that I had to wait a few hours until the money from my normal bank account transferred to my emergency bank... More

I had mistakenly booked the wrong date which was no problem at all. :) The rooms are standard hostelrooms. What's awesome about the place is the 2 pubs. Definitely a place for social people. The also offer a free walking tour and a funny pub crawl.

In a single word: TERRIBLE! The treatment is a shame, the rooms are very old and full of mould and I was robed by one of the employees who make the cleaning, asked for help in the reception, including pointing who stole my belong, and they just did not give a damn. Also during the first night (I had booked... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
