When in London for a short break what things do you most want? A great location, a comfortable bed, a good breakfast to set you up for the day, a clean room with everything you need and a friendly welcome. The Staunton has all of these. I am just home having spent two nights there and am so delighted to... More

Ideal for visiting the west end. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was great. Only negative is that if you stay in a room on the front of the hotel don't expect to get much sleep, as the traffic never stops.

This was our first time at this hotel and it proved to be a very pleasant experience. Our triple room was a generous size, clean and presentable, but just a couple of issues - at least two of the electrical sockets did not work and the bathroom ceiling above the shower needed attention as the paint was flaking off. We... More

Okay, I'll start with the few minor issues with this hotel... There is no lift, so you need to make sure you request a ground floor room if you struggle with stairs. The breakfast room is fairly small, when the hotel is fully booked, I can imagine there are issues there. That is literally it. The breakfast was beautiful, the... More

We stayed in this Bloomsbury hotel for a birthday weekend. We'll use it again if we are in the capital. This is more or less opposite the British Museum and within a 10 to 15 minute stroll of the West End theatres. Oxford Street is close by. The position is handy for everything - we walked from Waterloo station as... More

Having stayed on Gower Street previously and been unimpressed by other establishments I decided to book the Staunton due to the good reviews I have read. Upon arrival everything looked quite impressive, the receptionist was very friendly and helpful when we checked in. Our room was on the first floor and very spacious as I had booked a quad room... My wife and I stayed here for one night for our anniversary over Christmas. The room was fine and the full breakfast was very nice. You can help yourself to cereals and juices also. The breakfast room is not massive, so you may have to wait if you arrive later. We watched a show at the Phoenix theatre, which was... More

My wife and I stayed for one night in December and found the hotel very pleasant. The room was warm, welcoming and clean ...although it was up 3 flights of stairs which was hard work after walking around London all day! Breakfast was a choice of Continental or Full English, we both chose Full English and really enjoyed it. The... More

I stayed here as a single female a couple of weeks ago. I had an appointment in the afternoon & on reaching the hotel early was advised my room was not ready. After a pot of tea and 20 minutes later my room was ready. I was in 104 - first floor double, with tv , tea & coffee making... More

The Staunton was one of the most reasonably priced hotels in the area. Of course, being in London, it was ridiculously expensive, but it provided decent value in comparison to other hotels in Bloomsbury. The location was great...only about a block from the British Museum and about 3 blocks for two different Tube stops. It's an "old school" hotel with... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
