I wasn't expecting too much from this typical central London town house hotel as they tend to over promise and under deliver on the standard throughout the establishment. However, on this occasion I was pleasantly surprised. The stylish reception was mirrored in the rest of the hotel including the bedroom. Generally, the more stairs you need to climb to get... More

Stayed for one night moving from another similar hotel up the same street. Similar hotels but with different "air". Got a room at the basement which was better than expected (I'm very not enthusiastic about basement lodgings). Large double bed and good clean bathroom with ample space to put your stuff. The shower was one of those fixed on the... More

We needed somewhere to overnight with our adult daughter that was close to RADA. This was perfectly located and they had a room for 3 at a reasonable price. The chap on reception could have been a bit more welcoming when we checked in, but we were soon given our room keys and directed to the third floor. Yes the... More

We stayed at the Staunton, as my spouse was attending a conference across the road at the Univeristy of London. The hotel was clean and neat, although it needed a bit of TLC to deal with the realities of having lots of usage by guests. The room was clean and neat, if not overly large. Opening the window was a... More

I have stayed in many small hotels in Italy and Ireland and this was not at all what I expected and I think most American travelers would be disappointed. A vertical B&B, with small rooms off a narrow spiral staircase, our room was 3 flights up in the attic which was a little frightening as the only way out in... More

When in London for a short break what things do you most want? A great location, a comfortable bed, a good breakfast to set you up for the day, a clean room with everything you need and a friendly welcome. The Staunton has all of these. I am just home having spent two nights there and am so delighted to... More

Ideal for visiting the west end. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was great. Only negative is that if you stay in a room on the front of the hotel don't expect to get much sleep, as the traffic never stops.

This was our first time at this hotel and it proved to be a very pleasant experience. Our triple room was a generous size, clean and presentable, but just a couple of issues - at least two of the electrical sockets did not work and the bathroom ceiling above the shower needed attention as the paint was flaking off. We... More

Okay, I'll start with the few minor issues with this hotel... There is no lift, so you need to make sure you request a ground floor room if you struggle with stairs. The breakfast room is fairly small, when the hotel is fully booked, I can imagine there are issues there. That is literally it. The breakfast was beautiful, the... More

We stayed in this Bloomsbury hotel for a birthday weekend. We'll use it again if we are in the capital. This is more or less opposite the British Museum and within a 10 to 15 minute stroll of the West End theatres. Oxford Street is close by. The position is handy for everything - we walked from Waterloo station as... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
