We spent one night at Melbourne House Hotel which is situated on a street with rows of hotels, probably all similar. I chose this one because the cleanliness was mentioned regularly in the reviews. Our room was on the top floor, so a good workout by the time you reach the top, no lift. The room was clean, comfortable, warm,... More

This hotel is in a fantastic location and is a bargain for the price in the heart of London. Walking distance (approx half mile) to Victoria train and coach station, Westminster and the river Thames. Hotel itself is small and quiet, staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are not huge but certainly not small and perfectly adequate for a... More

We don't really want to tell you how great this hotel is for fear that it may become too popular! However, we enjoyed our stay so much that we felt we should let others know. We stayed here last week as a stopover between work Christmas parties and meetings in town the next morning. The location for us was superb:... More

Stayed here as was working nearby over the weekend so just wanted somewhere cheap, close, clean and quiet as I was footing the bill not my client. Somewhat surprised at my ‘basic’ single room, I am sure a cell would be bigger! It was only 8’ by 5’ comprising small single bed, sink and radiator with a very small extension... More

Thank you again to John and his staff Third time stay on business at Melbourne House where I sincerely appreciate the effort management goes to each time for upgrades and the understanding for lower floor accommodation to avoid the stairs where ever possible. Thanks in advance for next time! If it is your first time to London these are typical... More

I stayed 4 nights at the Melbourne House. The rooms and amenities are basic but it is clean and the location is very convenient. Good choice for leisure travel if you will be spending most of your time seeing the sights. Close to the Pimlico tube station.

All too typical of some of these smaller independent hotels, Melbourne House feels like stepping back into the 80s. The dated (but not antique or even shabby chic) furniture, the cheap fire doors and patterned bedspreads all contribute. With a teeny, tiny television, don't expect to be able to spend the evening lying on the bed watching tv after a... More

It was hard finding this place with the GPS, there are 3 locations with the same address on the same street within viewing distance, don't trust your GPS but print it out before you leave! When we arrived, we were told our room was on the 5th floor, but we might take one on the 4th. I inspected the two... More

Hotel located near Pimlico tube station, well connected to London center. Bus 24 stops at the very door. Small room, but enough for 2 people. Very clean. Breakfast could be more imaginative... The room had a great advantage: no carpet at all, unlike most English hotels. This helps cleaning and offers good sensations.

Staying in Pimlico

Neighborhood Profile
Pimlico
Time spent in Pimlico is a slower-paced affair than most other Central London neighborhoods. This largely residential area orderly arranged beside the Thames, is a treasure trove of quaint pubs, subtle architectural charms and local boutiques. Here, art lovers thrill at the chance to visit the world class Tate Britain gallery for its collection of British art from the 1500s to the present. For peace and quiet and some downtime spent along the Thames, Pimlico is highly recommended.
