This is an older hotel but not a quaint hotel. The bathrooms have been remodeled, the wifi is fast and free, and the housekeeping staff is excellent. Unfortunately, the mattresses are old and lumpy and there's a musty smell throughout the hotel. I was told that the air conditioning system is shut off at midnight in order to reduce the... More

Perfect location as only minutes from Tower Hill Station and about 10 minutes walk from Liv St Station. Hotel was really lovely, clean and provided everything you would want! Even a free bottle of London Pride :-) Staff were friendly and helpful too.

I have stayed at the chamberlain several times before ! This time they made it special and upgraded me to a room with a view and personal roof top ! Well, let me say - Beds are average in other rooms! The bed in this room is good!!! The layout is cramped in other rooms! This layout is much better... More

Dear Clickgal, this is a lovely read as it is a pleasure to see that as a regular guest this was recognised and we upgraded your stay. We are continually improving the standards in our standard rooms and items such as the beds will be consistent throughout the hotel, however what cannot be matched is the private roof top balcony... We stayed here, visiting London for a family christening. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The room we stayed in was modern and clean with a safe, fridge and extensive TV package thrown in. The bathroom was small but comfortable enough for our needs. It can be a little... More

I stayed in the Chamberlain recently and found it extremely convenient for meetings around the financial district in London. It is also located close to the Tower bridge / Thames, so offers a good break after a days work.

I was not in a refurbished room and, while the room was comfortable enough, the decor was tired looking and carpet threadbare in one or two places. Main wall was cluttered with mirror and fairly unattractive pictures, two of which were squint and couldn't be straightened. It's amazing how irritating squint pictures get after a couple of days! Great shower... More

Dear Jane, you raise some interesting points regarding your recent visit. I must firstly thank you for taking the time to share this experience and also praising both your breakfast and the staff you encountered. However, it does appear that the overall age and decor of the building dissapointed you. The good news is that we are well underway with... More

The staff here are so friendly and make all the difference to your stay. The rooms have been refurbished and have the most comfortable beds. The food is good and it is reasonably priced. There is room service, a restaurant and also bar food.

Dear Nicola, thank you for taking the time to share with the tripadvisor community your experience at the hotel. It is particularly nice to see that it was the staff that made the difference, as a building, no matter how great, is just a building without the right people. Thank you again. Kind regards Chris Kerr General Manager More

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
