4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Stayed for 1 night in December. Easy check in, decent size room for London. Typical of Novotel rooms-large bed, clean room with everything needed for our stay. Easy reach of tube stations & plenty bars/ restaurants nearby. Will return if in that area again.

Such a pity that I had to give this hotel three stars, because the staff was excellent. But most of the times you don't visit a hotel to remember the smiles and helpfulness of a staff, you just want a good room with proper facilities. The check in was one of the worst I ever had: Accor Hotels decided to... More

Stayed 3 nights with our 2 children aged 7 and 5....ROOM- was clean and tidy on the 5th Floor (quiet floor apparently) the room was cramped for a family and the sofa bed was full of springs making it very uncomfortable for the kids. We were charged £3.00 for a bottle of water from the room fridge. LOCATION- Close to... More

This is our second time here; we have stayed close by at an alternative hotel a couple of other times too, as we like the location, but this time a great deal including 1st-class rail travel made the Novotel a very good option. As a location, this would seem like a great compromise; it's close enough to the Shard, the... More

I stayed here with my family for a long weekend. It was clean, but kind of sterile and not lively, although there were many people around. The rroom was rather cramped, but functional, and we didn't miss anyting. We didn not pay for the pricy breakfast, and that is not a problem, because there are plenty of choice rignt outside.... Stayed at the Novotel 26th and 27th of November. Getting to the main entry is like running a Tough Mudder but once inside everything is as it should be ; The staff were very helpful and welcoming, all spoke a number of languages and worked very efficiently. The lifts are slow ............................. aren't they all in the UK ! There... More

You'll see from the numerous reviews that the hotel is rated very good, but what others don't tell you is which room to choose. If you're solo or on a business trip I'd recommend room 619. It's the top floor corner unit with a beautiful view over the London skyline (no London bridge). It has a double bed, nicely decorated,... More

We booked this hotel for one night as a place to crash after birthday celebrations. It was one of the few in central London which would do a triple room for 3 adults and we weren't looking for anything fancy. While the beds were fine and the room was clean I have 3 major gripes. 1. we had a fire... More

Having looked at previous Tripadvisor comments before our stay, I would like to clear up a few misconceptions! The hotel is LESS than a 5 minute walk to Southwark Bridge on the south side of the river Thames. London Bridge station is the closest tube at about 8 minutes walk. Southwark tube is slightly further away - maybe 10-12 mins... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
