Lovely stay at this hotel. I was in London for a day of meetings which were cancelled so actually got to actually look around for once. Great trip to Borough Market, drinks in the Shard and a walk along the South Bank. Beautiful view of the Shard from my room, particularly at night when it was illuminated. Called in just... More

We went with very limited exectations but were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is ideally situated 5 minutes from the nearest tube station and two minutes from the bus stop - dead easy to get to Covent Garden, West End , the Eye etc. The hotel is smart and rooms well appointed; staff courteous and helpful; breakfast excellent. We didn't sample... More

We stayed for just one night, using Tesco clubcard vouchers, when visiting the capital to celebrate my wife's birthday. Telephone booking process went very smoothly. Hotel very conveniently situated for visiting lots of London's attractions, and they kept our overnight case secure as we arrived well ahead of formal check-in time (offered same facility on day of check-out). Room was... More

When booking the room there was no mention of works happening at the hotel. We were first aware of the drilling when we arrived (which sounded like it was in our room). At 9.30 am on Saturday morning the drilling started again. After mentioning this to reception staff, no resolution was offered. Had this not happened, I'm sure we would... More

Good rates for familiy trip even if one day before our arrival in London the hotel published a cheaper fare that I immeditatly booked changing the previous one. Good location near the tube and railwaystation ( direct trains to' Gatwick Airport at 5 gbp instead of 39 pounds of Gatwick Express)

Very nice hotel located on the South Bank of the river. Staff are professional and friendly, always aiming to make you feel at home. It is suitable for both business and family stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Good location, rooms a typical of novotel in that the way they are set out Is not ideal, the toilet and shower are in separate rooms which would be good if there was a sink in the toilet to wash your hands after going to the loo. The shower room door is only a foot from the side of the... More

Stayed in one of the suites, the room was handy and had a separate room for our toddler. Toilet was separate from the bath and shower which was handy too. However few minor nuances, only two towels which meant we had to reuse, no heated rail so this was unpleasant. No spare pillows for the second bed which meant we... More

Only one thing I can say, Excellent....everything about this Hotel was simply lovely, from the staff to the accommodation and the food. We were early for our check-in, but the room was ready, so they promptly checked us in and pointed us in the direction. We had an executive queen room for 4 of us, with complimentary internet and local... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
