I don't normally mind staying at a cheap B&B and rather spend the money on things while on holiday than on a good room to sleep in, but this hotel was the worst I have ever stayed in. I chose it because of the location on Birkenhead Street in London. Walking out of the hotel you walk 20 yards or... More

Never again. The police arrested a local doing some sort of deal right outside our front door. The hall way leading to our room was pitch black, the light finally came on at our door. The bathroom was very small and the light was on a timer. It would go out while you were showering. You could sit on the... More

We visited this hotel last week and here are the reasons I DO NOT recommend this place: -The staff was not the best, especially the kitchen and serving staff, not professionally dressed and I am not even sure they meet the sanitary requirements to serve food or prepare it even more. - The rooms where small and dirty, the bathroom... The staff were nice & friendly. The breakfast was satisfactory. The rooms are very, very small. A large couple arrived to check in as I was in reception area. After viewing 3 rooms, the lady declined all, saying she would struggle to get in the shower & her husband would have no chance. On the whole though, for London prices, the... More

Opposite Kingscross Station, so some rooms may be noisey due to the traffic. The reception staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable, though the bed was a little creaky. The ensuite was good. There is a lift at this hotel. Breakfast was very good for a lower cost London hotel, if that is, you... More

We found the Carlton Hotel on booking.com as one of the cheapest hotels where the3 of us could stay. The staff are pleasant, the room was basic but comfortable and en suite. The room had the worlds smallest TV but we were so tired each night we didn't want to watch it or intend to. There was brew kit in... More

my wife and I on arrival found it very clean and staff very helpful and polite, we had a family room on the lower floor which was big and clean, nice size en suite shower little small but did the job with nice hot water. The TV wouldn't work so reported it and they came and fixed it almost right... More

I needed a hotel at the last minute, the chains were full and overpriced, so I opted for a cheap, no frills hotel. I've stayed in a few awful hotels around King's Cross, and had expected this to be on a par with them. In reality, it was better than most of the others around the area. The staff were... More

I have never seen a such unpleasant and nasty staff. Especially the Russian woman yelling at you if you don't understand what she is saying with her unpleasant accent. Breakfast is gross. Scramble eggs with shell inside etc... Very expensive. Bathroom is cheap. Wifi is probably comming from russia too(not always available). Soap, towel toilet paper not necessarly provided. Only... Last minute 2 night trip to London and the chains were asking ridiculous money so we took a chance on the Carlton. First, the good points. Fifteen minutes after getting off the train in St. Pancras we were booked in and on our way to our room. So the location is fantastic. The full english breakfast was pretty good. Everything... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
