Our room was quiet because it wasn't near any of the many fire doors that make a racket when closing. So my tip would be to make sure you ask for a room that will be quiet when you try to sleep. Enjoy the free drink you are offered. The bar has interesting products on offer. Breakfast at weekend is... More

A theatre trip with my daughters meant all 3 of us coming on different trains so it was important that we found a hotel near our stations where we could leave our luggage on the day we arrived and the following day before our train so this was perfect for that. We were given a newly decorated triple room on... More

We have just returned from a very pleasant at The California. The Hotel is just like they detail on the website, which is not always the case. The rooms are a little on the small side, but are well equipped and are more than sufficient for a short stay. The location is a big plus. It is only a ten... More

Good value hotel conveniently close to Kings Cross station. Nicely refurbished with a 1930's art deco feel. Good sized bedroom on the top floor, clean, well furnished with a comfortable bed. BUT, I can't understand why the owners feel that a very thin blind would darken the room at night sufficiently to enable a good sleep, especially when the hotel... More

We stayed here for travel in Eurostar and proximity of the hotel. This from what I can see is the only benefit. The rooms are small and very poorly set up. The bathroom we had was internal and functional. There is not lift I this hotel and we had to lug our bags up narrow corridors and narrow stairs. The... More

We chose The California as they offer large family rooms in a great location for transport links around London and we were travelling to York the following day and the hotel is literally across the road from Kings Cross station. Don't worry - it's a quiet side street so street noise was not an issue. The rooms were surprisingly large... More

Spent last night there as we were taking the Eurostar the next day. The hotel is perfectly located for the station.. A 2 minute walk! The hotel is quite small and the rooms smaller, but if you are staying there for the reason we did, it wasn't a problem. The room had a very small double bed in it and... More

Stayed there as catching the Eurostar the following morning. It's literally over the road from kings cross train station and the Eurostar terminal (which are around 15 seconds walk from each other anyway). Room was a single so small but warm, clean and modern. I left really early and upon check out the receptionist offered me a coffee even though... More

Small room , but , clean and cozy , bathroom with bathtube and shower , Safe on the room and you can borrow poweradapter in the reseption There are 3 levels in the hotell but no elevator and many narrow stairs. So this is not recommended for people with a bit good conditions and good legs . The hotell served... More

My husband, daughter and I are just back from a five night stay in this hotel. The location is opposite Kings Cross and St. Pancras stations and near bus stops. There are three steps up to the hotel which is not suitable for people with limited mobility. I need to use a stick and was given a ground floor triple... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
