Stayed here in July 15 after a night at the opera! It was a nice large, clean and comfy room. Basic but who cares! Right next to Tate Modern and within a stone's throw of many transport links. I would be happy to stay here again.

Stayed here again in September. Place is good value and the breakfast is always good. Rooms are large but basic, no TV or hair dryer etc. Bar downstairs is open late. Five minute walk to the river or ten to Borough market area.

Basic student rooms- no frills at all . But within 200M of Tate Modern. Facilities are basic but adequate. For families or young people coming to London this place is a find -as it is so cheap, but yet so close to the heart of London !

University dorm room style, despite stated in the website that breakfast included but turned out the restaurant was clsed during breakfast time do no breakfast was served. There were many cafes nearby offering breakfast at a few pounds. Reception seemed to be manned by students so not very informative. You pay for what you get. So not a big issue.

It is what it is. Student accommodation. Great for the traveller who is visiting London and needs somewhere to rest their tired legs!!! Breakfast is limited on the main items but there is lots you can fill up with. One bonus is that there is a well stocked student bar on the site with prices below the normal for London.

I arrived to find out I pre-paid for the room a day earlier than I arrived (100% my own fault). The desk clerk said she'd need to check with management in the other room to see what can be done. She returned and said I would have to pay full price for another room if I wanted to stay there... More

I stayed here for two nights while at a conference near St Paul's Cathedral. Don't let the bustling hordes of teenagers put you off, if you want a room to rest your head, it's great. The room I had was basic - but it was clean, with an amazingly powerful shower. Despite all the teenagers, it was quiet. The room... More

The LSE Bankside House is a available out of term for travel accommodation. Everything is paid online in advance so check-in is straight forward and quick. Accommodation is spartan, and sure it feels like a student residence, but it's clean, efficient and I got a fine sleep in the single bed. Fresh towels and soaps make this a super value... More

Just returned from a one night stay here. The property is located ideally, directly behind the Tate Modern, in a safe area close to plenty of amenities, though the nearest Tube station is about 10 -15 minute walk. Check in was uneventful and my room on the 5th floor was typical of good student accomodation. Plenty of lifts too.Bed linen... More

As always with LSE accommodation this is very good value and ideal for a stay in central London that doesn't break the bank. Clean and comfortable it includes an excellent breakfast and the staff are always helpful. I have just one concern over my accommodation. I understood it was a single room with a shared bathroom, shared with one other... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
