The answer, of course, is not a great deal. However, MH is very conveniently located just across the road from Gloucester Road underground station and is only a few minutes' walk from the museums and South Kensington. Our room was pretty basic, with a fairly cramped bathroom, but it seemed clean enough and everything worked. MH has the smallest lift... More

Disgusting place. Room and bathroom both were very dirty. Curtains had strange white stains, revolting. Staff were not very friendly. We booked for seven nights and we had to leave after two days as it was unbearable.

I booked this hotel for Valentines night for my husband and myself . Our deluxe double room is more like a box room very disappointed . Our bed is stuck in a corner against a wall need to climb over each other to get out of bed.The furniture has seen better days very dated. The room is clean enough and... More

After many years away from my birth country, my daughter and Grand Daughter traveled with me to England and we had the good fortune to choose the Montana Hotel. The service was excellent, the rooms were spotless and clean, the breakfast was a wonderful treat in culinary delight and we should know. All three of us came from Melbourne in... More

Stayed here for one night visiting friends in the city. Location is good, a stones throw from Gloucester Road tube and close to plenty of shops, museums etc. The decor is a bit tired but all was clean and tidy. However the reception lets it down. Although not rude they were aloof and a little dismissive. The breakfast staff, although... More

This is one of the typical London hotels converted from old residential building and so rooms are of different standard according to your luck. The hotel is well-run, and staff of generally good attitude, but the hotel simply is too old. It is opposite the Gloucester Rd tube station for convenience for the Piccadilly train to Heathrow, but the station... More

Location was the only positive experience about this hotel. On arrival staff were extremely rude and condescending regarding my lack of knowledge of London. At one stage the stuck up receptionist ( male) was talking to me in a tone that could be interpreted as shouting. The room was at the back so fairly quiet but other than clean bedding... More

Small room, old decor, air conditioning old, bathroom shabby, lack of interest in your comfort by the staff. Stayed in room 112 which was noisy, smell of Indian restaurant food wafting under the door and topped off by having the hotel ladies and gents either side of the room door entrance. Owners need to spend money on refurbishment before they... More

Ideally situated for Albert Hall and Museums. Room in desperate need of modernisation, bathroom consisted of WC, Washbasin and Shower and was located in was what probably a cupboard, barely room to stand in front of wash basin. Continental Breakfast was Fruit, Cereals, Yoghurt, fruit Juices and toast.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
