Saint George's Hotel was very average, with disinterested staff manning the front desk. But situated on Regent street - it's remarkably well priced for its fantastic location. The hotel room was clean enough, but in need of an update as it was a bit tired.

The restaurant is nothing short of terrible. My friend and I went there for drinks and decided to order some plates of food. The food was worse than anything left in a fridge and then microwaved days later. The haloumi kebab was uncooked with raw onion on it and tough peppers. We complained several times and the attitude of the... More

Have stayed here a few times in the past and it was very nice, seemingly those days have changed. It has become very run down and the duvets are now flat and thin as pancakes. Previously I always got a room with twin beds and they were fine but this was my first double bed at this hotel. First one... More

The service is not good - would never recomend this hotel. We came in late and had booked for three person me and my children. They only have a two person room and the lady there Johana did take into consideration that we had been traveling for a long time. We had printed out the hotel ticket from booking.com which... More

Brought me back to my days in the halls of residence 20 years ago Was on 10th floor. Dark narrow corridor with worn room doors with scuffs on them and peeling paint. Had paid for a suite type room, dont think I got one, room was so warm, sweat box. Banging pipes all night. Handy location, bath was big and... More

Thanks to paperclip123. Although the bedrooms have been refurbished in turn over the years. The corridors are yet to be done but this will be in hand when the total refurbishment takes place to create a boutique hotel with Roof Gardens. GRM More

We are shortly going for a holiday to London. In the past we stayed at the St. Georges due to the location. After our last visit I could not recommend this hotel as it is simply grubby and depressing . It is really a pity that the owners "milk" this location without any regard for their guests comfort or dignity.... More

Thanks to donaldgregoryBel for his review. For his information several million pounds of investment have gone into the building over the years. Hotels are capital intensive - that's the nature of the business - he would not be aware though that works are due to start imminently to create a boutique hotel with an extra floor on the roof for... Great location close to Oxford Circus tube ststion. After that nothing much of merit. VERY expensive for what we got. A tiny double room with en-suite. Secondary double glazing which worked well but the frsmes were rusty and dirty. If you want to run s bath / have s shower then I suggest you run the hot water for 10... More

Jim B posted a review though a bit difficult to comprehend on account of the spelling mistakes. Refurbishment happens on a floor by floor basis and it is just possible the room he stayed in is shortly due. GRM More

I do believe some of the fellows (and gells) writing for this esteemed interweb publication may have been unduly critical of said establishment. Having reflected upon this dilemma for the last year or so, I may have chanced upon the reason. It is, of course, a question of perspective. If I may say so, some of the more recent denizens... 1) Bedroom: dirty carpets, dreary and tired decor, several moths were spotted during my stay, psocids in sink area, poor lighting, good views of London. 2) Restaurant: unhappy staff, poor customer focus, food very bland and overcooked. A private function in the restaurant resulted in the staff seemingly not knowing whether the restaurant was open to hotel guests or not.... More

Yes, we know dave_sherring. When we looked into what psocids were nothing of the kind was found to be present before or after. These are found in kitchens. Mr Sherring was on a dinner inclusive basis, though, he did not book a table. It is courteous and good policy to book a table so that both parties are on the... More
