Probably below my expectations of a 4 star boutique hotel. The hotel is set inside an old Edwardian house, so the facade is quite nice and it's located on a leafy street. But boutique here reads 'small', which meant it was not as comfortable a stay as I would've liked. Walking in, you are standing in a hallway, which is... More

I stayed at the Fifty Four for five nights, on arrival I was given a standard room despite having booked the deluxe. I asked to change and the staff on reception was very apologetic and changed my room. A simple mistake - perhaps, but he could have offered a free breakfast or a drink at the bar to make up... More

This hotel came up on a booking engine - very reasonable tariff for central London. Chosen because of its location - North Kensington, just by the Science, Natural History and V & A museums, also easy walking distance of the Albert Hall and Kensington Gardens. Easy access from South Kensington & Gloucester Road tubes, "Boris" bike park right outside the... More

We just needed a quick two night stay in mid January before our long haul flight home from the UK and this was a great find. The gentleman at reception was welcoming and we were checked in with a minimum of fuss. The room was beautifully fitted out, the bed being very comfortable with crisp, white linen and the bathroom... We really enjoyed our stay at the 54 Boutique Hotel. Superb location. Walking distance to the Natural History, Science Museum, V and A Museum. All within about 10 to minutes walk. Royal Albert Hall is also very close. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within a 5 to 20 minute walk. The Gloucester Tube is about 10 minute walk.... More

Good location, but rather basic and noisy. The room was small, with cheap decor and facilities. It was a bit disconcerting to have the bathroom door right next to the bed, providing little or no privacy.

I loved the 54 Boutique Hotel. I had a single room which had stairs leading down to the bathroom. It was, clean, quiet and the bed was really comfortable. The hotel is situated on a street next to the Natural History Museum. It's the most amazing location, ideal for exploring London and there are loads of great places to eat... More

Only about five minutes' walk from Gloucester Road tube statIon, my room was quiet, clean and well equipped if on the small side. OK for the price against the cost of other comparable central London hotels.

Location is excellent near the museums and two tube stations. Rooms are really big for London and also a proper bathroom comes along. Heating and airconditioning also modern and working so this all leads to a pleasent stay. Extra points for good and hassle free wifi (for once). Stayed here now twice and both times enjoyed my stay immensely. A... More

When the gentleman on reception realised I had a bad knee he moved us to a ground floor room without having to be asked. When we reported that the toilet in the corridor had water coming through the ceiling the staff sorted it immediately. Well done everyone.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
