The location may be good and it may be quite cheap to stay at this "hotel" but it is no more than a hostel - I would rather have erected a tent in nearby Russell Square. Reception: manned 24 hours allegedly. When we arrived we waited in reception for a good 20 minutes before anybody appeared by which time there... More

This hotel is barely functioning. I stayed on the third floor, where one bathroom was out of order, and another had no lock upon it; on the second floor, another bathroom also had no lock. Light fixtures were hanging from the ceiling. At one point, I leant against the door of my room while looking for my key and the... More

Dont know where to start. The positive first. Location. Now the negative. We arrived with another couple and had 2 room booked. Our first room was smelling mould so after one night we where changing it due to my girlfriend start feeling astma. Second room was on the 4th floor, there is no elevator in the hotel, but did not... My Son had kindly booked a twin room on the internet for myself and a friend here for one night on the 14th of July 2015. On arrival we were not at all impressed with the downstairs area and were asked whether we would like to see the room before paying to which I agreed. We dragged our case up... More

We stayed one night which - despite the hotel being very old and tired - wasn't so bad. The location and the price made it acceptable. However the following morning we stored our luggage in their 'luggage room' next to the reception, the manager told us repeatedly that it was safe, locked at all times and that someone was at... First 2 nights was great - our last night however came in and the receptionist was in our room (she said she was just checking the toilet was working, which we believed). Next morning all my jewlery was taken and all my friends euros. They must of gone through the room thoroughly to find our stuff. Police were called and... More

We stayed at Lonsdale Hotel for 8 days, and we really liked it. It´s not the most nice looking place, but the staff works hard for it to be clean and comfortable, and so it was if only the other visitors clean right after they´ve used the bathroom. The location is very good. In 10 minutes you´re in Oxford Street,... More

When last saturday I arrived to the Lonslade, it immediatey reminded me of the old good times, when I was young (almost 20 yrs ago) and looking for very cheap places to stay around London. The point is that here I spent some 65 Gbp for a small single without bathroom! :) But it's true that times have unfortunately changed... More

In case you don't want to read my whole review (although you should), I'll try to summarise: cold, dirty, uncomfortable, everything broken, unhelpful unprofessional staff, unhygienic, no breakfast. Truly terrible in a fairly adequate location. So, I booked a double ensuite room at the Lonsdale for myself and my girlfriend for just one night after arriving in London from another... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
