My husband and I chose this hotel in part because of the attractive rates it offers for weekend stays. We were very happy with everything about our stay. The staff at reception were pleasant and helpful. I am a Marriott Gold member and we were offered an upgrade from a standard to a larger room. It was quiet, well equipped... More

I recently booked two rooms at this "5 star London property" (please note that I use the term "5 star" loosely) as accommodation following the delivery of an event at a near by venue. My colleague and I arrived at the hotel at 12.30 am (my colleague had already checked in earlier in the day). We went up to our... More

Very good value on Fridays and weekend. Very presentable, but rather soulless suite. Staff rather distant and not fully able to understand nuances of English. Breakfast seems expensive at £20! Good base for city evening event.

Dear VeritasOxford Thank you for your review. I am pleased you found your stay good value ( the very best offers and rates are always on our own website, so always check there first). So sorry that some of our staff did not understand the nuances of what you were saying. We have a multinational team of staff (reflecting both... More

The hotel is lovely. The rooms are modern but the hotel has maintained its traditional character and charm. The staff (especially Sara at reception) made us feel welcome and special. The bar is lovely and the entire hotel very well maintained. The rooms are exactly what you need - a clean, comfortable bed with an excellent shower/bath and excellent amenities.... More

Dear XenOphile Thank you for your review. As mentioned in the response below, I am sorry that there was not an additional power point at the bedhead in your room and that the apple docking station was not of any use to you or your partner in charging your phones or laptop. I have asked our IT manager to have... More

This place is almost perfect. Almost. The improvements that could and should be made to achieve a truly outstanding place are very minor and easy to achieve, say nothing of them being cheap. The level of service is outstanding with the staff being polite, efficient, and going extra mile in recognising gold and platinum card holders (Autograph is a part... More

Dear Anastas M Thank you for your detailed review and I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciated all the little luxuries in our rooms. I am so sorry that you didn't get the complimentary mineral water that we normally put in all our rooms when they are turned down in the evening or the... More

Thanks to a lastminute bargain, bagged a room on a Sunday night for just £99. I was expecting to be given a cupboard to sleep in, but it was the biggest room I've ever had in London! Very close to Bank or Liverpool St tube stations, plus a bus stop outside the hotel, so nice and easy to get to.... More

Dear Gemma N I am so pleased you tried our hotel for the first time and appreciated our great location and the big bedrooms and bathrooms. I am deligted that you say you will return, and whilst we can't often offer rooms at such a low rate as you had last Sunday, the very best rates available are always on... More

For my birthday this past weekend, my wife treated me to dinner at Galvin la Chapelle and a stay in town. We booked this hotel as it really looked good, and was in the same area as the restaurant. When we checked in, the receptionist was busy handing out prosecco, water and orange juice to other people checking in, but... More

Dear John K I am so sorry that the receptionist who started to check you in failed to do it properly or even to complete the task. Please be assured that this is certainly not the standard of hospitality normally set at this hotel. I think I have been able to identify the receptionist in question and will be discussing... More

Special occasion, so thought we'd treat ourselves. Unfortunately this hotel fell very short of the apparent 5 star standards. Reception staff ignore guests coming into the hotel, sometimes not even making eye contact. No help with bags etc. Basic service lacking in many aspects. I would have rather gone to a travel lodge, at least staff there are more helpful... More

Dear hedgehoggirl I am so sorry to read that you found the welcome and service lacking from our front hall staff on arrival. Please be assured that your experience is certainly not the usual standard of service offered at this hotel. I do hope your experience will not deter you from using other marriott Autograph hotels on your future travels.... More

What a fabulous hotel. The reception area is absolutely stunning and that theme carries on through to the bedrooms. The beds were so comfortable with feather pillows and duvets and high quality bed linens. Huge luxurious bathroom and everything you needed for your stay from beautiful toiletries, refreshments, magazines and even a brolly in case the elements were unkind. For... More

Internet slow and spotty (its in the business district in the year 2015 no less), room and hotel is dark and dreary, concierge desk, unhelpful and unknowledgeable, have seen two -3 staff in the entire hotel so far and have been here for three days. It is in a great location and the outside of the building looks very nice.... More

Dear Valor R I am so sorry to read that you didn't like the decor of the hotel, I know decor is always a matter of personal choice, in our public areas which are very brigt and airy with amazing columns and high celings, the decor is designed to show off the Victorian archtecture as much as possible. Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
