We spent two nights at the Royal National on the August Bank Holiday weekend, I had read that it is Britain's biggest hotel (over 1,300 rooms) and expected that accolade to be reflected in the flesh...... Oh dear, the room (a twin) was small and pokey, it had a TV with a pathetic 14" screen, the bathroom was equally tiny.... More

This hotel seems to be full of people at all hours, my room is situated next to the main courtyard area and it gets very loud at night. The included breakfast is so average: pre toasted toast, cereal and sloppy fruit. The 5£ extra hot breakfast didn't seem that much better to be honest. Would recommend finding a nicer breakfast.... I spent there six days (five nights). It made me feel very... londoner! The hotel is located in the very center of the city, very close to the British Museum. Very kind people everywhere. The room (1086) was very tidy, clean and comfortable. Exactly what you need when you spend all day sightseeing and then getting home, after a tiring... More

This hotel is suitable for the young traveller or a one night budget stop over! Rooms were neat , tidy and very basic. No air conditioning made for a very uncomfortable stay in the room for three nights! Windows only opened slightly so there was no air flow however allowed the noise factor from the courtyard below up to the... More

In July me, my boyfriend, sister and her boyfriend went down to London for a festival and decided to stay here. Over all for the price we paid I'd say the hotel was actually really good! We stayed there three nights and every single night, the staff were lovely the hotel was immaculate and very clean. The rooms weren't anything... More

My friend and I stayed here for one night as we were on a hen party. We went with the attitude it is just for night to rest our heads. We were very surprised that we could check in at 12pm which was a real help. The breakfast was average to say the least with very rude staff. Had to... More

I visited this hotel with a group of my friends for my stag weekend. I must say the hotel was just right for what we wanted. No frills and somewhere to try n sleep ( gadgy roll ) after getting totally smashed... I'd like to point out that the dining room last is most helpful. She will remind you if... More

First, the good news: the Royal National is in a good location, near many attractions (the British Museum, the Dickens Museum, etc.) and Underground stations. And it's not expensive by London standards. Oh -- and the breakfast that comes with most rooms was decent. But, oh, but an unrestful and unpleasant place to stay! There are countless rooms, and ours... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
