My advice to anyone considering staying here is to expect no more than clean sheets on a bed (sheets-and-blanket, that is, not a duvet) and a large collection of threadbare towels. Read all descriptions carefully and make no assumptions. Free wi-fi does not mean it will be available in your room - only in the busy and uncomfortable lobby and... More

Before arriving, I wasn't expecting much due to reading the reviews. It was worse than the pictures, our toilet didn't flush, the shower water didn't get hot (the weather was cold at the time too)and the TV didn't turn on. Booking with Contiki may have ensured this type of room but would not recommend to anyone. Don't book through Contiki... More

I had low expectations of the Royal National to begin with from reading reviews and it still managed to disappoint me. I stayed here before embarking on my contiki tour. The wifi is non existent. Advertising reports that wifi is available in the hotel. It is only available in a cafe and bar downstairs. Even when I managed to connect... More

Unfortunately not a lot I could say about this place without complaining... Went to London on a business trip and the hotel was booked by the travel agent the organisation I work for use. Very dated furniture, bed too soft, lumpy and squeaky. Pillows thin and smelly. Hairs from previous guest in bath tub. Nowhere to sit in reception area.... More

This hotel is the largest hotel in London and very reasonably priced in relation to its area. The best part about this hotel was its location. You very much get what you pay for: small clean room, toilet and shower/bath and a small tv. My experience over the last 5 days i just stayed here was poor in relation to... More

Just stayed here on a hen weekend, we all got our rooms next to each other, rooms were clean and the breakfast was fab, we were 2 mins from Russell Square tube station and 15 min walk from Kings Cross perfect location

What a depressing old hotel. It is bare to the bones. Low doors, only little bars of soap, scratchy walls, it's like an old orphanage or some other leftover from the 19th century. Once but never again will I go here. Got to this via a BA deal, very disappointing

This is a disgusting hotel, I have uploaded pics of our 1 night stay. The conditions are horrific and would never advise anyone to stay there. This was our bathroom and the sheets from one of our beds.

This hotel seems to have some bad write ups but I think that's a bit mean. This is as an affordable hotel for a break in London. It is moments away from the tube station, it was spotlessly clean, comfortable and although a little dated in decor, great value for money. I would happily go back.

The only advantage this hotel has is his position. Otherwise, rooms are basic, with furniture that has seen better days, noisy loby and turmoil of traffic all day long. So called continental breakfast is really what we, non british, call english breakfast and what the british call english breakfast (some eggs, salami and so on) they make you pay additional... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
