We had a great time at the royal national hotel. Facilities were really basic, but, the setting made up for the lack of swanky bathroom and stuff. Wifi was a challenge, but there were free wifi street sites overlapping the hotel. The restaurants on site and across the road were good value. The staff were helpful and breakfast was basic... I stayed here for one night in November in a twin share. The rooms are incredibly basic and quite a dated hotel. The reception staff are rude and not accomodating (I landed at 7am and it was pouring outside and it was hard enough getting them to store my luggage until I was able to check in). This is ok... Me and a friend stayed four nights at Royal National. It took us 45 minutes to check-in (!) as they needed the voucher. We couldn't even show it to them through the mobile. This felt very unneccessary and unprofessional, and have never experienced this before. As the hotel is gigantic (over 2000 rooms) it was hard to actually find the... More

Stayed here on a 2 night break through superbreak. Cannot fault the hotel. Staff very friendly. Rooms old but very clean and comfortable beds. Breakfast was nice and a good choice of hot and cold. Cannot fwult this hotel would stay here again as in walking distance to covent Garden and oxford street.

Like cattle herding. Big queues to check in, ridiculous queues for a poor breakfast and rude staff. The noisiest place ever stayed in. The windows may as well be non-existent! The first room we stayed in had a vent that could not be closed so as well as the pub, traffic and people noise the wind was whistling through the... More

This is a hotel for a cheap break in London, and the price is a goodf thing about it. I usually find offers for its rooms, you only have to search the web for that. The best thing about this hotel is its situation so close to the British Museum, Oxford st. and the like. Russell Square underground station is... More

The hotel was your typical cookie cutter hotel. Located close to Russell Square station and within walking distance of many things, namely The British Museum. Reception staff was friendly. The concierge desk, not so much. Because I was with the Contiki group, every time a roommate changed, I had to get a new key. Anytime you asked them to do... More

This hotel promised much in pictures but the reality was very different. No double beds only singles on wheels. No duvets only cheap scratchy blankets over a sheet, and when asked for extra they had none. No one told us how to turn the heating on, I like a cold bedroom but in December it was freezing, my girlfriend and... More

I left my watch in the hotel in my hotel room as I left the hotel to get my taxi, I then realised 20 minutes later so decided to ring the hotel. Their answer was that they could not find the watch and it ws not in the room leading me to the conclusion that the maid had recieved an... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
