The best thing about this hotel is location, if you just need somewhere to sleep that's handy for getting onto the Tube, it will be ok. On arrival we were ushered into lines by an overbearing man, unfortunately the man serving our queue disappeared into a back room and never returned. We arrived at check-in on Friday at 1.45, we were... I stayed here after booking through Hay's Travel for a 2 day London break. I attended a festival for the day on Sunday afternoon and needed somewhere to stay for the evening with my boyfriend. I was expecting a basic room but if you are staying here be prepared as it really does mean basic. The rooms are quite small... More

This hotel is so well placed for all the central London attractions, tube station just around the corner. Unfortunately that's where the positives end, having said that my wife and myself and our granddaughter had two nights b & b, rail travel and a meal at another hotel chucked in for £350, so couldn't complain. However the hotel is 100... More

My advice to anyone considering staying here is to expect no more than clean sheets on a bed (sheets-and-blanket, that is, not a duvet) and a large collection of threadbare towels. Read all descriptions carefully and make no assumptions. Free wi-fi does not mean it will be available in your room - only in the busy and uncomfortable lobby and... More

Before arriving, I wasn't expecting much due to reading the reviews. It was worse than the pictures, our toilet didn't flush, the shower water didn't get hot (the weather was cold at the time too)and the TV didn't turn on. Booking with Contiki may have ensured this type of room but would not recommend to anyone. Don't book through Contiki... More

I had low expectations of the Royal National to begin with from reading reviews and it still managed to disappoint me. I stayed here before embarking on my contiki tour. The wifi is non existent. Advertising reports that wifi is available in the hotel. It is only available in a cafe and bar downstairs. Even when I managed to connect... More

Unfortunately not a lot I could say about this place without complaining... Went to London on a business trip and the hotel was booked by the travel agent the organisation I work for use. Very dated furniture, bed too soft, lumpy and squeaky. Pillows thin and smelly. Hairs from previous guest in bath tub. Nowhere to sit in reception area.... More

This hotel is the largest hotel in London and very reasonably priced in relation to its area. The best part about this hotel was its location. You very much get what you pay for: small clean room, toilet and shower/bath and a small tv. My experience over the last 5 days i just stayed here was poor in relation to... More

What a depressing old hotel. It is bare to the bones. Low doors, only little bars of soap, scratchy walls, it's like an old orphanage or some other leftover from the 19th century. Once but never again will I go here. Got to this via a BA deal, very disappointing

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
