The place is really well situated, near the metro and Hyde Park. The staff is nice, and the bed are okay. Other than that is a common youth hostel, without any specific utilities that would make it special, but the location and the price make for a satisfactory stay.

Stayed at the YHA London Earls Court while backpacking Europe last summer. It was the last hostel on our trip and it was pretty good. The common areas are superb with big open rooms and lots of places to sit. The front desk staff were friendly and were really helpful in helping us to essentially navigate all of London in... More

A 15 minute walk from Earls Court Station and we arrived for the 2nd 2 nights of our honeymoon. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We were allocated a basement courtyard room. Excellent size with en-suite. Lovely to find windows that opened fully and an electric fan in the room. Self catering kitchen an excellent size. Could have done with more... More

Sister's first day in England (& Europe), she only had dollars to pay for the 9 nights. People at the front desk wouldn't take a deposit & sent her off at 10 pm to change the money to pounds. It was quite a bit of money so this was a terribly INSENSITIVE move on their behalf. She could've been robbed!... More

The good news is that YHA Earls Court has the potential to be a very good hostel. The location is excellent and there is nothing that can't be solved for relatively small expenditures. The bad news is that the management doesn't seem to want to make that happen. All of the problems I experienced are certainly known by management, they... More

Location is definitely one advantage of this hostel. We expected worse but things turned out okay. Staying in hostel largely depends on type of group stay at the same time we do. Not bad for us, we got basement room for three. Only one shower room and one toilet worked in the basement when we stayed so we really need... More

Typical hostel, 5 stars for location, (short walk from the tube station) one star deducted for the moldy wet smell throughout the whole hostel. Cleanliness was fine, but the smell...and I have a bad nose too! So I know if a smell bothers me it has to be pretty bad for normal people. I booked online through booking.com for 2... More

Starting from an unfriendly and bored staff, thru the disgusting showers, crumped rooms...following towards the self catering kitchen....where to enter you need to walk across an ugly court, filthy with pigeons'poop...the worst of all is the atmosphere...really regret I have not chosen another facility. But the neighborhood is lovely. Also pretty expensive for a hostel. Would not go back there.

Much better than on my previous visits. Not only has it had a bit of a revamp, someone seems to have cleaned it recently. No overflowing bins, no icky stuff in the bathrooms. For the first time (this is my fourth visit) reception staff were warm and friendly rather than looking a bit scared and confused. Breakfast was great. Plenty... More

Stayed there and at Oxford Circus and prefered this one as it is in a quiet neighborhood and it is a bigger YHA - bigger common rooms and kitchen. Staff are helpful and ready to give you advices. Two grocery stores near by - there is 2 or 3 refrigerators in the kitchen so you can keep your stuff fresh... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
