Typical hostel, 5 stars for location, (short walk from the tube station) one star deducted for the moldy wet smell throughout the whole hostel. Cleanliness was fine, but the smell...and I have a bad nose too! So I know if a smell bothers me it has to be pretty bad for normal people. I booked online through booking.com for 2... More

Starting from an unfriendly and bored staff, thru the disgusting showers, crumped rooms...following towards the self catering kitchen....where to enter you need to walk across an ugly court, filthy with pigeons'poop...the worst of all is the atmosphere...really regret I have not chosen another facility. But the neighborhood is lovely. Also pretty expensive for a hostel. Would not go back there.

Much better than on my previous visits. Not only has it had a bit of a revamp, someone seems to have cleaned it recently. No overflowing bins, no icky stuff in the bathrooms. For the first time (this is my fourth visit) reception staff were warm and friendly rather than looking a bit scared and confused. Breakfast was great. Plenty... More

Stayed there and at Oxford Circus and prefered this one as it is in a quiet neighborhood and it is a bigger YHA - bigger common rooms and kitchen. Staff are helpful and ready to give you advices. Two grocery stores near by - there is 2 or 3 refrigerators in the kitchen so you can keep your stuff fresh... More

With our 14 students, we stayed in this lovely green hostel for 5 nights. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a great time there. The neighbourhoos was perfect for our students, safe, lovely and quiet. All of us would like to go there again. Thank you YHA!

The staff were very nice and helpful, the location was close to the tube which was great for getting around. The family room at the garden area was perfect for our needs. Common rooms very comfortable and free wifi. Guest kitchen was well stocked

Stayed here for four days and for a hostel I was very happy - the bathrooms were cleaned every day, the linen in our room was clean and the blankets were nice and warm! I met some lovely people in the kitchen (bit on the small side for the amount of people they cater for) and in the back garden... More

We had booked a room for the 6 of us and had the nice surprise to be in one of the garden bedrooms (B14).Iit was lovely to have the garden on our doorstep (well exposed, some sun loungers and tables, brilliant!). The rooms are pretty basic but after all it's an hostel, the shower could do with some more hooks... More

Lovely building, easy to find from Earl's court tube station. Friendly staff, room was clean and ensuite (a garden room). Breakfast was tasty. Nice rear enclosed garden. Planning on staying here again.

Wi-Fi in the room working but poorly, good location, quiet. The staff was fiendly and helpful. The room (we had a room for two) was clean, but very basic, there could be more furniture for stuff. We liked the location - the street was quiet, 5 minutes of walk to Earl's Court underground station.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
