I stayed two nights at the Sanctuary House Hotel, and I had an excellent experience. It is a few steps from the tube and Westminster Abbey/Big Ben. It is also a short walk to Victoria Station and Buckingham Palace. You can't ask for a more centralized location to the sights. The desk staff was very accommodating in storing my luggage... More

A friend recommended that when looking for a pub, we try to find one that is sponsored by Fuller Brewery. The Sanctuary House is one such pub. The food was excellent, and the service was impeccable. We both had sandwiches and a glass of wine - both of which hit the spot after a long day of sight seeing in... More

Sanctuary House is really well located for visitors to LOndon with many of the sights within a short walk. We were there for a wedding and know London well but it was just a short walk to the Abbey so that was great. The room (101) is on the corner - it is a good size with a well equipped... More

We booked through Hotels.com and got the room at a great price for central London. Check in was easy, room was a great size. There was a fridge and safe available in the room, plenty of coat hangers, and a dressing gown each. It was a short stroll to St James Park tube station, allowing us to get to Leicester... More

First time in London, and we were glad we picked The Sanctuary House Hotel. The staff was friendly. The location was great (just 2 blocks from the tube). We were able to walk just 5 min to big ben at night and get some great pictures. Breakfast that was included was a great value and delicious. I was excited to... More

My friend and I stayed here for a night during the Christmas season and it was lovely. Very nice hotel with a charming old feel to it. Our room was great! Very modern, classy and spacious and I was really happy with the coffee and thee facilities in the room. So nice to come back from a cold day out... More

Dear Samantha, Thank you very much for your lovely review. Christmas is always a brilliant time to come and enjoy the city and soak up the incredible atmosphere whilst taking in the sites, which of course, we are perfectly located for. I am happy that our little touches, such as our selection of hot drinks and biscuits, made the chilli... More

It's overwhelming trying to decide on a hotel in London, but we were lucky that my brother recommended this hotel to us. There isn't really anything to find fault with here: it has a bit of "old world charm," it's in a great location just steps from monuments like Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, and attractions farther afield are accessible... After a brief visit to London, we stayed in the sanctuary hotel, I would reccomed it for the good service, wonderful location and a really good pub downstairs. I will surely go back. Very near theatres and landmarks.

I've visited Westminster a number of times on business and always thought to find a place to eat elsewhere. That said I love the Westminster environment it has so much to offer you can spend more than a day visiting this part of London alone. So to find a good venue that offers good grub at a good price (for... More

Stayed for 1 night to celebrate partners 30th, this trip was a surprise straight after his birthday trip to Spain! The room was very pretty, with the lovely touch of takeaway cups for tea & coffee and use of a cafetiere! We also liked the complimentary water and orange juice although only the water was in our room fridge. One... More

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
