I've said this before, and I'm saying it again. The Thanet is arguably the best modestly priced hotel in London. I always look forward to staying there (and I go on business so a stress-free environment is essential), and to staying in "my" room. No - I'll never divulge which one for obvious reasons! Staff? Friendly, cheerful and attentive Breakfast?... More

Richard and I were really touched by your lovely review - It is always wonderful to hear that what we are trying to achieve at the Thanet has come across and people have enjoyed the experience. As for saying we do not look old enough to have been running the Thanet for 22 years - I am beyond happy with... More

We like to stay in Bloomsbury. It is on the Piccadilly tube line, which is handy when traveling from Heathrow Airport. It is also an easy walk to the British Museum, the British Library, Covent Garden, as well as other museums, theaters and restaurants. This time we stayed on the ground floor and the Wi-Fi worked fine. Wi-Fi on the... More

could not fault anything, room was spotless, beds comfortable and breakfast was very good. Hotel was in a perfect location for a weekend visit to my niece who is studying at the LSE, which was about a 10 min walk away. So pleased to have found somewhere that we will certainly return to.

All of the good and better reviews are true. I spent 3 days/nights at this hotel; for a single room I paid GBP 95; all around just a wonderful experience; superb staff and lovely proprietors; highly recommended if you want to stay in central London and are looking for an affordable hotel; great breakfast; ALL GOOD

The Thanet House lived up to all our expectations except that we did not have the opportunity to meet Richard and Lynwen, the much-praised owners. Maybe they were on holiday but it was a bit of a disappointment to deal with young employees. However the young men in the office were helpful and polite, carrying our bags up and down... More

This is my own opinion, meant as constructive It’s fair to say that I rarely stay in a hotel, but London is my old stomping ground. You can find many hotels including a “national chain” that offers a single room, en suite for £70. Time wasn’t on my side though, and considering the competition, I thought a private hotel would... Thank you for your review. So glad you enjoyed the cleanliness of the hotel and the location. I have taken note on the firmness of our beds and we can provide thick mattress toppers if needed. Please be assured that children are very welcome at the Thanet, indeed we provide cots free of charge. Many thanks More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
