I love this place--a perfect location to explore London. Bloomsbury still feels like a neighborhood to me. Accommodations are reasonable for London, nice staff, charming owners. A little threadbare here and there--elegantly shabby. I would return tomorrow!

Needed to stay in London for a night between meetings. Found this hotel on LateRooms at a reasonable price including breakfast. Handily located in Bloomsbury and just 5 minutes from my meeting venue. Reasonably quiet street so not too much road noise. No lift, so no good for disabled people or those with otherwise limited mobility. Room adequate, contained a... More

We searched high and low for a central hotel for our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 girls aged 12 and 10 yr old twins) and after reading many reviews and being turned down by many hotels as they would only sleep a family of 4 we found the Thanet. We had an amazing 3 nights here and would... More

Pleasant staff but dated facilities. A tiny shower in my triple room for 1. No lift so lots of stairs. Old building and creaky floorboards - glad I was on the top floor rather than below listening as even the slightest movement made noise. Breakfast ok.

Visited London for a night at the theatre. The Thanet is centrally located as its 5 minutes from covent garden, next to the british museum and was close enough that we walked home from the strand (roughly 20minutes) Its reasonabley priced for london and exactly what I wanted from a b&b, restful night and a hearty fry up in the... We have stayed here twice and have on both occasions been very satisfied with the state of the room and the en-suite. It's not luxurious (the price reflects this), but it is clean and the breakfasts are excellent. The staff - on reception (?Richard?) and in the breakfast room - were helpful and friendly, and it was good to talk... More

We have stayed here a number of times. Bloomsbury on the Piccadilly tube line is a great place to stay. However, the owners did some "sprucing up" (paint) and have increased the prices quite a bit. I am not sure it is still worth the price charged. Breakfast is a good deal, if you indulge in everything they offer. They... More

I stayed here for one night and would not stay again. The room was tiny, and very dated. The curtains were dusty as was everything that had a surface. There were stains on the walls and headboard, I passed this information on politely to the gentleman when I settled the £92 bill for the one night to which his response... More

We just returned from our first visit to London and stayed at the Thanet Hotel for one week. Our daughter is studying in London for a semester and is staying near by. Richard invited her to join us for breakfast which was very unexpected and much appreciated. The room was clean and the staff was very pleasant. Would recommend this... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
