My wife and I stayed here 3 nights and were very satisfied with the property. Certainly not the Savoy, it had a great location two blocks from the British Museum on a quiet street and equidistant from two tube stops (Holborn and Russell Square). We were able to reserve a room on first floor (#1) as the stairs did not... More

Not a very warm welcome, I seemed to have interupted the mans tv viewing. The room was a tiny single room but it had all the requirements. Shower was tiny and no mat provided so floor was dangerously slippy. Breakfast had a very good selection but for business guests 7.45am is very late time to start so meant i never... More

My fiancée wanted a night in London for her birthday and wanted somewhere to stay not too far from Leicester Square in our budget range. For our price. £110 we had a family room which could sleep up to five people in a good sized room. FreeView TV and shower room separate from the wc were a nice touch, especially... More

We are so pleased you enjoyed your birthday at the Thanet. Indeed the room you had which holds 5 people is very popular as not many hotels have rooms for that many guests - ideal for a family. Thank you also for the points raised and we hope to welcome you back. More

We booked a 2 single bed double and were allocated a double bed, moved to a triple with no fuss, this was lovely and as there are normally 3 of us i would definitely book again. Comfortable bed and clean room, good breakfast Really convenient as within easy walking distance of the west end and close to the tube station.... More

We just returned from a week in London and stayed at the Thanet March 26-April 2, 2015. Because we were traveling with an older child (18), we wanted a "triple" room and Thanet is one of the very few that offer this. Our room (on the ground floor, facing the garden/rear of the hotel) was quiet, beds were comfortable, and... More

I love this place--a perfect location to explore London. Bloomsbury still feels like a neighborhood to me. Accommodations are reasonable for London, nice staff, charming owners. A little threadbare here and there--elegantly shabby. I would return tomorrow!

Needed to stay in London for a night between meetings. Found this hotel on LateRooms at a reasonable price including breakfast. Handily located in Bloomsbury and just 5 minutes from my meeting venue. Reasonably quiet street so not too much road noise. No lift, so no good for disabled people or those with otherwise limited mobility. Room adequate, contained a... More

We searched high and low for a central hotel for our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 girls aged 12 and 10 yr old twins) and after reading many reviews and being turned down by many hotels as they would only sleep a family of 4 we found the Thanet. We had an amazing 3 nights here and would... More

Pleasant staff but dated facilities. A tiny shower in my triple room for 1. No lift so lots of stairs. Old building and creaky floorboards - glad I was on the top floor rather than below listening as even the slightest movement made noise. Breakfast ok.

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
