Needed a room for 3 nights and was late in booking. Found this place and what a find it was. The road's quiet and peaceful. Entering the hotel, it looked nice and neat. Was shown to our room, and when entering noticed how big it was. The tea/coffee making bits and bobs are plentiful. Normal hotels leave 3/4 milk tubs... More

I visited the Thanet Hotel with two elderly friends. The location was crucial....and turned out to be just perfect; even a seventy-five year old with a stick could walk from St. Pancras to Thanet and then on to the theatre near to Leicester Square........ and back again! The outside of the hotel, with its stunning flower baskets was just like... More

After many years of disappointment, have I found my ideal B&B in London? This experience at the Thanet in Holborn tells me - "Yes!" Not large and impersonal, but comfortable, clean (lovely crisp bed linen), good in-room facilities and arguably the best breakfast in London. Cooked to order in the kitchen adjacent to the dining room and with more than... More

Dropped on the Thanet through Late Rooms having left it to the last minute to book a central hotel. The double room, with full English, did not disappoint. We had one of the two basement rooms (room 17) which was very spacious with a huge shower room.Free Wi-Fi is a bonus. The bed was one of the comfiest I've ever... More

My first visit to London and I was recommended the Thanet Hotel. I can't think of a better place to enjoy British hospitality without spending an insane amount of money. Their website provides a lot of information and gives an extensive account of history about the place. The room we had was excellent for us. The bath is the size... More

Friendly and helpful staff, with clean rooms. The rooms are relatively small, but good value for money in a central location. Bathroom was a bit cosy and not really suitable for tall people (over 6 foot).

My wife and I stayed here 3 nights and were very satisfied with the property. Certainly not the Savoy, it had a great location two blocks from the British Museum on a quiet street and equidistant from two tube stops (Holborn and Russell Square). We were able to reserve a room on first floor (#1) as the stairs did not... More

Not a very warm welcome, I seemed to have interupted the mans tv viewing. The room was a tiny single room but it had all the requirements. Shower was tiny and no mat provided so floor was dangerously slippy. Breakfast had a very good selection but for business guests 7.45am is very late time to start so meant i never... More

My fiancée wanted a night in London for her birthday and wanted somewhere to stay not too far from Leicester Square in our budget range. For our price. £110 we had a family room which could sleep up to five people in a good sized room. FreeView TV and shower room separate from the wc were a nice touch, especially... More

We are so pleased you enjoyed your birthday at the Thanet. Indeed the room you had which holds 5 people is very popular as not many hotels have rooms for that many guests - ideal for a family. Thank you also for the points raised and we hope to welcome you back. More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
