Nice and clean hotel. Good location. Polite staff. We stayed in Tavistok while our first visit in London. Rooms are small but clean. Room with a bath tub is rather helpful after the whole day of walking. Nice place

Have stayed here on a number of occasions now and I've never been disappointed. It's clean and comfy, great location, friendly staff, good breakfast and brill value for London. This time we stayed in room 205 which overlooked Tavistock Square. Yes there was noise from outside but it's London, and it didn't disturb our sleep after a jam-packed day in... More

We had one night booked in a twin room at the Tavistock, including breakfast. The room, was what you'd expect from this hotel chain, Imperial Hotels, basic but clean. We had a twin room on floor 8 which appeared to be a disabled room with two red emergency light pulls in the bedroom and bathroom, plus paddle taps and grabrails... More

I had two nights here - room booked by conference organisers. I can see that the hotel owners/managers have tried to improve it - the room had clearly been renovated but it is a basic hotel that seems to cater primarily to the tourist/coach trip market. I had a twin room on my own - just as well as I... More

basic service. clean yet quite aged. this is a hotel which is a good base to visit central London : just a few-minute walk from Russel square tube Station, you can walk to Coventgarden in 15 minutes and to The British museum in 5 minutes. Breakfast is very poor ( nothing more than bread, jam and butter and an undrinkable... More

The Tavistock is in a great location--near to Russell St station and close to the British Museum and the rest of Bloomsbury--but its staff is not all that helpful and its wi-fi is very lousy. The wi-fi only works in the ground floor lobby and, even there, it is not terrific. This is hard to believe in 2015 and with... More

I was booked into this hotel by a conference, so I didn't choose it myself. Nevertheless, I do not recommend it for business travelers since there is no internet available in the rooms. Not even if you wanted to pay for it. There is free wifi in the lobby, so the area is occupied by guests pecking away at their... More

This is one of a chain of Imperial hotels in London. I've stayed in the nearby Royal national with pupils and it was fine for the purpose, but must be horrible if you're a private traveller. The Tavistock is much nicer. It is a fairly bog standard London hotel. The bathroom wasn't spotless, but ok, and it did have a... More

The purpose of the visit was a one night stay for a football match via Superbreak which covered rail travel from Newcastle and one night in an allocated Imperial Hotel which in this case was the Tavistock. For those arriving at Kings Cross its a twelve minute walk up Euston Road turn left at Upper Woburn Place and hotel is... More

I found Reception quite brusque asking me to sign paperwork without explaining to me what it was. They were impatient when I insisted on reading it first. I felt like I was on a production line both on arrival and departure. The room wasn't clean. I noticed a lot of dust. The wifi didn't work. This Hotel needs to be... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
