This is 2015. Motel 6 in rural America has internet in the rooms. Tavistock Hotel has it only in the lobby, with the user-friendly password #f}%6l10Zs9@lYp Not kidding. The art deco lobby is attractive and gives an old-timey feel that is convivial, but having no internet and wildly overheated rooms feels a little TOO much like 1930s. Am staying here... More

The hotel was brilliant value for money as we only paid £47 for the night which included a buffet English breakfast in the morning. The hotel was easily accessible from kings cross train station either by tube, walking or taxi. We had a few issues with one of the male receptionists as we were advised over the phone we could... Clean, comfortable and centrally located this hotel isn't luxurious but is reasonably priced. We had 2 nights here and had a complimentary 3 course meal (which must be taken on the first night), not gourmet, but good so we ate there the second night as suited our time limitations to get to a show. Good breakfast, all the staff were... More

We stayed at the Tavistock as part of a package deal and this was our third time there. The location is perfect as you are within walking distance of three underground lines, the British museum and other sights as well as lots of places to eat. We knew that the Tavistock is a no frills hotel so we took our own... More

I have been staying at the Tavistock since 1972. The price is reasonable (for London), the location is superb (Bloomsbury, near British Museum, Kings Cross, St Pancras), easily reached from Heathrow (tube stop at Russell Square a block away - no need to change lines), pub in hotel is OK, most rooms are reasonably large, luggage can be stored for... Wanted well placed hotel with disabled facilities. Didn't want luxury, certainly didn't get any! Beautiful Art Deco building. Most staff disinterested. No ramp at front door but little step, so we managed. No ramp ever offered either. Food very poor. Drinks prices reasonable. Bar man miserable. Room good design and space, we had a very large disabled room. Carpet in... More

This hotel has all one needs though it doesn't go in for fancy bathroom bits - you get soap! The rooms are comfortable, breakfast is plentiful though not imaginative. The bar has reasonable prices. If you want to eat in the Jacques bar you need to reserve a place in advance, but it is possible also to eat in other... More

I chose this hotel because of the location, near King's Cross and not far from the nearest tube station, Russell Square. The hotel reception is by far the redeeming feature, particularly if you like Art Deco. The rooms are clean but basic and the English breakfast is no more than reasonable. Staff were helpful at all times. All we wanted... More

The best thing about this hotel is location. It's a basic hotel in the middle of London. Our room was clean and warm. Breakfast was not good, we skipped it after the first morning. I would stay again for price and location

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
