This could be a nice central London Hotel if the management actually managed and the owners spent a little money on it. The decor is old and faded. The rooms and beds are very basic and on this occasion the bedding (a sheet and single blanket from the 1970s by the look of it) was hideous. The blanket had a... More

We recently went to London for a wedding and stayed at this hotel, the room we had was on the small side but was very clean, the deal we got was for 2 nights and included the first nights evening meal from a fairly limited menu but the quality of the food was fine. The costs for bar drinks was very good... More

Entering the lobby I thought I had been transported to the age of Hercule Poirot - such elegance, if a little faded. The Bar mirrors are amazing and the area very comfortable. I was on the 4th. floor on the west side (Bedford Way) which was very quiet. Don't be put off by the worn corridor carpets and the damaged... More

If you are looking for a basic no frills hotel at an affordable price in central London, then this hotel is for you. The rooms are clean and not small, I would recommend you ask for a room overlooking the pretty tavistock square. The rooms on the lower floors can be a bit noisy at the weekends due to a... More

Have stayed in the Tavistock now for many years. We always find it clean, comfortable with plenty to do and eat nearby. The breakfast is always fresh and filling. At night the bar is always busy but welcoming, and I still can't believe a large glass of red wine is only £2.80 which is nearly have the price of the... More

It is really well located, the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired but just around the corner you have the Brunswick centre with Giraffe, YoSushi, Nandos, and a lot of other chain restaurants that will soothe your breakfast needs. I recommend Cafe 41 - delicious and huge sandwiches for a good price. And you get a free fruit! The... More

Somewhat understated we really enjoyed this hotel' Yes, the room was small but we had one of the rooms with a bay window which made it pleasant. Room 210 overlooked the park and there was little noise from the road just below. There were tea and coffee making facilities plus a hair drier and free YFi was on all of... More

This large hotel was comfortable, the staff were courteous and helpful. The hotel is central for most tourist attractions and suited our needs perfectly. The breakfast left a bit to be desired ie cold scrambled eggs, rubbery sausages, but we left there having had a good nights sleep in comfortable beds and clean surroundings,we would definately recommend it

Only visit this hotel if you're prepared to spend till 3am lying awake from the bass reverberating through your room, as the hotel also runs a very loud nightclub in the basement. How anyone can think running these two businesses side by side is a good idea is beyond me. If you're lucky, you might get a couple of hours... More

We spent 5 days in this conveniently located hotel. The receptionist was charming, as were all staff we encountered and the reception area is welcoming. Our 6th floor twin room was clean, but small and its decor a bit faded. The bathroom too was small and the narrowness of the bath made it tricky to stand whilst showering. There was... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
